So, who's the knucklehead who decided to remove the seller's name from searches?

According to Devon in this thread, it is a test. The Product Team confirmed the test, but I am not sure exactly who is the knucklehead.

It’s me, hi, I’m the knucklehead, it’s me, my ex and everybody agrees it's me.

A test?  What kind of a test?  A test to see how they can make search results even more useless?

Her name is Rhonda Bristol.  Knucklehead was her maiden name; sources say she carries regret (and some resentment) about taking her husband's name because she was very proud of her Knucklehead heritage.  It shows sometimes, even in her programming work, and this change is a perfect example.  If nobody can see her real name, then nobody shall see anybody's names!!

Whatever they are testing it is working! I quit buying entirely 3 days ago  on 6/27 until my preferences that are marked to SHOW seller IDs are met in all of my search results. It will ultimately affect sellers the most as I am a  BUYER ONLY and without seller ID and feedback score showing in search results I do not even look at individual listings. I just go away instead of looking at or buying anything. It saves me money. The last time eBay antagonized me, it was 10 months before I bought the next item. Happy selling in this mess.

The seller's feedback rating and score are showing, only the name, arguably the more important piece of info, is missing.  Along with an encouraging note that you can "Shop with confidence."  Does this change your peculiar boycott?

NO.       my answer was complete in the first word. Ebay community requires at least 10 characters in a reply

In addition to seller IDs and store names, they are also hiding promotional discounts from the search results page. Meaning buyers do not know if a seller offers a volume/pricing discount until they click the item.

Q: Do you combine shipping?

When they say "quit" they mean "avoid".  Maybe I'm weird but I quit buying from Amazon years ago, and by "quit" I mean I don't even look at their website, and I sure as heck wouldn't be interested in their Community forum, if such a thing exists.  But again I'm probably just weird.

I did a search saw the new results and was, at first, uneasy with the result.

BUT my search got far too many results to make it likely that I would get the sale. Is was not in the top 20.

I did a more narrow search with 14 results could recognize my listing and could see why a buyer would view my listing. On the whole, I found it to be irrelevant whether my sellerID was there or not.

What I did find odd is that my store name, not my sellerID was on the listing.

I have many years of buyers who identify with my sellerID and am very disturbed that it is no longer part of the process. Not on the search results, not on the listing.

I have noticed they are consistently inconsistent with seller i.d.'s versus store names.  So much it almost seems random, and I used to think this or that seller must have changed their (i.d./store) name from the one I was used to, then I eventually realized they didnt' change anything, it just depended on where it was displayed ... but there's no way I would be able to memorize those 'rules'.

It just makes me so glad I chose a store name that includes my i.d. name.  It was before I knew of this unfortunate confusion the platform creates, so it wasn't a reasoned decision, just lucky.

 Another alleged improvement test !

I suspect ebay management has authorized & is responsible

Radical Progressive Optimism

You & I can sleep soundly at night knowing ebay's gifted management & knuckleheads continue to remain at the helm steering ebay into change & improvement beyond the belief of most ordinary mortals bringing forth even more happy ebay selling & buying experiences for the future

How would you even find the knucklehead responsible in a group of knuckleheads?

And what do you call a group of knuckleheads?

I mean for example you have a pride of lions, a pod of dolphins, a pack of wolves, and a murder of crows.

I suppose it could be an eBay of knuckleheads.
