Annoying questions buyers ask

Hi Seller Friends, I hope your all doing well!

So I re-opened this topic since it was closed in April 2023 because it is becoming a HUGE issue with sellers. I've been selling on this platform since 2001. Most of my buyers (99%), either BIN or bid on the item I have listed and hope to win at the end of the auction time with no issues. However, in the last few months, I've had buyers offer 80% lower than the listing bid stating they only had ......blah, blah, to pay for the item. Then I have buyers that have 0 = 'ZERO' feedback bidding and ask to cancel and don't pay after a 5 or 7 day auction (Multiple this month!), and I have stipulated in my criteria who I will sell to and who not, it doesn't matter, it goes through anyway.  Not to mention if you want any of your listings viewed, you have to pay to 'Promote' the listing again taking money out of our pockets and into the 'eBay Vault'. I would like to read your comments on your experiences, ideas and anything that is relevant. Thank you for reading my post! Stay Healthy and Love The One's Your With ... EVERY DAY 😉 !!!!!!!

Maybe it is time to move away from auctions or cut them down.

When you set up your offers, you can set the minimum amount you will entertain, so start setting those and you won't even get notified of these low ball offers.

As to new members.  I haven't had as many problems with them as you have seemed to have, but then I stopped running auctions years ago.  But if they ask for a cancellation, simply don't do it.  And then 96 hours after their purchase file a cancellation for Non Payment, then they get a strike for not paying and if you have your Buyer Requirements set to the strictest [2 in the past 12 months], you will block them from bidding.

Promoted listings are not a requirement.  Most sellers don't use them.  It is a choice and if it does help you get more sales, then it is likely a good choice for you.

This topic has been "re-opened" almost every day since your last one was closed five months ago.

You don't have to answer their questions.  I got two questions from two different wanting to be buyers today, I just mark the questions as read, and not answer them.  This is just me...

Those are annoying questions to you?

I had a buyer interrogate me over "minor scratches & scuffs" on a $4 78 record like I was asking $40. I finally stopped responding.

To the point, eBay's BIN listing % is insanely high, like in the mid to upper 90 percentile bracket which means 5% or less of listings are auction style listings. Perhaps you should follow suit?
