Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

I am furious with this  change to the fixed listing format.  For the majority of my listings I only ever had one of an item.  I resent eBay automatically relisting items I no longer have and that I'm paying for them as it comes out of my monthly limit.  I also noticed today that when they relist it automatically reverts back to the original listing.  Meaning if I revised the listing during the cycle it doesn't show my revised version.  I had a listing with multiple items. On March 23rd I revised that listing and added a new item at a different price.  On March 28th I sold two of them and only had the higher priced one left.  So I revised the listing again as I only had one left.  When eBay automatically relisted my listing it reverted back to the original listing for whatever reason and the quantity was wrong.  I hate having to babysit my listings now and delete them as they sell. NOW I  know for sure the money grab is on.

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

With GTC - the listing is supposed to hold the viewer count - watch count and the item count and why many with multiple variation listings use it as they don't have to keep going back to check their inventory. As far as I know - even if you made revisions - the way the listing lasted looked is the way it was suppose to relist. If you had a quantity of 3 items and 2 sold - the listing should relist showing a 0 count for the two items you sold.

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

I agree, I used to use fixed price listing. I travel a lot so I had to time the listings so that if they solid I could Ship the next Day. Good till cancelled on all fixed price listings does not work for me at all. I have 200 items to list today. When they come due for renewal I would have to cancel all that did not sell if I was going to be out of town any time in the next month. Totally unworkable. Anyone else have this problem? If so lets ask for the old system back

Can you be here Wednesday at 1:00 PST?  eBay needs to know that and fix their mistakes quickly.

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

I do not understand what happened.   These were  Toy Robots. There was only one item left in that listing in April which was added  to the listing with a different price in late March. Yet when it automatically relisted the count was off and the price of the last item changed.  This was some sort of glitch. I checked everyone of my listings today to make sure the prices and counts were correct.

Sad to say your feelings reflect how a lot of the sellers feel . At least you made a sale!

Good luck to ALL the small sellers out there!

What you are describing is a serious problem and one that would be a bit unusual.  GTC listings are not new on Ebay.  We have had access to them for many years.

It is important to understand what the GTC process is.  GTC = Good Til Cancelled.  So each month as your listing matures to reaching its 30 day limit, it will renew [this changes to once per month in July].  A Renewed listing is NOT like relisting a listing.  With GTC, they renew, they retain the SAME listing number.  The number of views, items sold and watchers follow with the renewed listing.

Let's see if we can get you some help on this matter.

Thanks for the tag @mam98031!

Hi @lightlily_arts - that doesn't sound quite right, I've reached out for more information, please keep an eye out for me email.

When it comes to single quantity items selling and then renewing, that may be related to the Out of Stock feature.

If you primarily sell single quantity listings I suggest turning the feature off (My eBay>Account>Site Preferences>Sell Your Item form and listings>Use the out-of-stock-option [uncheck]). Thanks!

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

Thanks I did go to my site preferences and unchecked that box. I don’t want the listings that have sold to remain active once they have sold. People who had my items on their watch list have been contacting me wondering if I still have my widget. Before when an listing was sold you could see that it was no longer available but not with this GTC format. Will the listing end when it sells or do I still have to go in manually and delete it? Because that’s what I have to do now.  And that makes me mad as I never had to do that before.  Previously when an item sold the listing just ended but not with this GTC.  For example I sold a cookie jar the other day and it was on the last day of the 30 day cycle so the listing automatically renewed even though it  was already sold.  So that renewed item had to have come out of my 250 basic store listing allotment.  I don't want this GTC format at all!!! That's why I see it as a money grab by eBay.  This listing format should be a choice by the seller and there aren't any advantages to me.  It's only more work having to babysit and manually delete.

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

But that's not what happened.  I don’t know why it changed.  I had revised the listing  in March to add a new item which was slightly different because the packaging was a different color and it’s price was much higher. The other widgets were $3.98 and the new one was $8.49. After the addition I had three widgets left. Shortly thereafter, I sold the last two priced at $3.98 with only the higher price widget left. I revised the listing again to show the information for the last widget only and it’s price at $8.49. However, when the listing renewed it showed the count for the ones that had already sold and the price reverted back to $3.98 for the ones that I had already sold as well. The page information itself reflected my last revision and that it was the last one. It was the drop down menu that showed the sold items and only the old price. So I’m mystified

Hi @lightlily_arts - with the out of stock feature turned off, GTC will work like the fixed price listings you're used to: when it sells out of quantity it will no longer be active and will stop renewing.

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

Maybe the solution is to always state that you have a quantity of 1 and then when it sells, you decide whether to sell similar. At this time, you decide on the price too. I am listing in bulk so that I do NOT baby sit everynight. Today, I am only listing 3 that are totally new items. The bulk of my free offer GTC auctions will start on the last day of the promo. ALL will start after 11:15 ESt. So in 30 days, I will have 3 listings (assuming that they don't sell to end..) Then I have a few days off and then the 65 or so that I will list on Thursday will also start around 11:15 pm. This will give me time to take a shower and be relaxed in my bed shutting down listings. Hubby gets to see my HUGE calender and he knows that on those nights, I am busy.....

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

My percentage of listings with more than one item available for sale has always been very small.
95% of my listings are for a single item only and reflects what my inventory has always been. Therefore, I don’t want the Good Till Canceled listing format. It’s made a mess of my active listing page now too. I have always had my active listings shown by which ones were ending soonest and now they are all over the place. I don’t know how to fix this or why it changed. Any help would be appreciated.  See the attached screen shot.

Re: Angry over Good Till Canceled Listings

This is the listing with outdated information. 192882754940  I  had sold the last 2 robots in blue packaging on March 28th and there was only the one  Newton Series robot left which should have been at a higher price. Why was the count off and why did the price change?
