Hi all.
I recently sold Sony VR on Ebay.
This buyer has over 17,000 positive feedbacks and all from purchase.
I have searched this buyer's ID on google and found this guy is selling Amazon and drop shipping from eBay. Also, I found this buyer is selling exact same item that I have sold and it was $150 expensive than mine.
I have shipped my item anyway because this buyer leaves negative feedback if ebay seller's cancel it. I was worried.
A week later, buyer returned with 'doesn't match with description' and said 'motion controller doesn't work'. I assume buyer abused ebay return policy for not paying the return fee. Return fee was $38 (It was $20 when I shipped through UPS).
I have checked this VR works perfect and there's no problem.
I sent several messages to this buyer but never replied.
I spoke with ebay agent and she said don't refund and don't do anything.
Actually, I think ebay will just process the refund full amount without my permission.
I want to ask this buyer 15% restocking fee + return fee but if it's not possible, I don't want to pay return fee.
I think it's not a fair game for eBay sellers.
Amazon sellers just throw away to ebay sellers and not taking any risks.
Any idea or have experience like me before?

The first part about them reselling what they purchase on Ebay to others on a different site should not be an issue for you. You got the price you asked for the item so you should be fine. It is no different from us going out and buying stuff to resale. One would hope we would make a little profit on it. So this part doesn't concern me at all and should not be a reason to want to cancel a transaction.
Now your return of this item. Again this is not handled any differently at all. It is not against the Ebay rules to sell what you purchase here on another site, so this part of the story doesn't apply to the return at all.
Getting the item back in great working order is a VERY good thing for you. It could have been damaged or otherwise different than when you sent it out, but from what you said, it is fine.
It is no different than any other SNAD that was falsely filed. I don't know what that CSR was thinking to tell you not to refund. If you have the item back, you need to refund the buyer immediately. If you wait, the buyer is just going to escalate the return to Ebay and Ebay will rule in their favor and force you to refund. Then on top of that they will also give you a defect on your account for a claim that had to be escalated to get you to refund.
Where this buyer sells stuff after purchasing on Ebay again plays no part in what you need to do in processing the SNAD.
Now after you refund the buyer, then you need to go and report the buyer for abusing the return system. Now is the time to plead your case to Ebay. Try to keep your feelings and opinions out of it. Just state the fact and what you can back up. If Ebay reviews this and deems that there was something wrong with how the buyer filed the return request, then Ebay will refund you for money you refunded to the buyer.
As for what you had to pay to get the item returned, that is likely to be a loss to you as Ebay doesn't typically refunded that. However you might argue why did Ebay charge you almost double what you paid originally to ship the time out.

I've really gotten away from shipping larger/heavier items unless it's a rare sought after item for this very reason. Unfortunately, the only bright side is you got your item back in working order.
