I made a listing for an item with a low opening bid of $10.95 to get things going. but I used a template set with buy it now, spaced out and didn't notice and some keen buyer saw it and grabbed itwithin an hour. I own my mistakes, its getting shipped this morning and probably not a huge loss.........
But the time it took to list is gone gone gone. Good lesson to stick to selling your specialty(this was not that)

Are you the only idiot? Nah, that path has been traveled by a whole horde of folks before you and there are many following behind.

I hear ya - TIME - Its your most valuable commodity/asset - used wisely, you can accomplish a lot for yourself and for others...used poorly...well
Not a lot of people talk about it here, but when you factor in the time it takes to: source, clean, rehab, take pictures, create listings, answer questions, pack, ship, account, do taxes, drive, fix printer problems, deal with returns, deal with site problems, store, retrieve, read the new policies, log-in, check payout for accuracy, revise, relist, delist, promote, etc, etc, etc, etc, most of the people selling on this site arent even aware they are literally earning next to nothing, especially when you consider the low sell through rates - I see posters here all the time with 1000 listing running and 10 feedback during the last month - Heck, many of them are paying more in store fees than they are making in a month, let alone FVF's!!!! What the?????

You can't go by FB left.
Sellers are lucky to get 1 out of 0 buyers leaving it these days.

True story:
Poster A: "Turned out the shipping was $2 more than I thought it would be. So I repacked, shaved off some of the cardboard box, reconfigured the box and retaped. It took an hour, but whew! I managed to get the weight back down to where it should have been."
Poster B: "Dude, you just worked for $2 an hour."
Poster A: "Shut up! You don't know everything! I've been a seller here for 22 years and have 100% feedback..." Etc., etc.
Rest of Us: "Kill me now."

There are quite a few sellers who have eBay selling as a hobby.
They like to source, clean, rehab, take pictures, create listings, answer questions, pack, ship, account, do taxes, drive, fix printer problems, deal with returns, deal with site problems, store, retrieve, read the new policies, log-in, check payout for accuracy, revise, relist, delist, promote, etc, etc,
Which is also why you get an assortment of views on any given problem.
For some the sale is the thing.
For some the profit is the thing.

I feel for you. I most certainly have done something similar to that. My buyer got a great deal for sure.
How you are handling this situation shows that you are a WONDERFUL and RESPONSIBLE seller. You are doing the right thing. I know it hurts a bit, but not all lessons are painless. We learn and move forward.
Thank you for being a TERRIFIC seller. I hope your little business has a fabulous year.

Of course someone would write this and totally diminish the point - We ALL know this...
What does is matter if we are talking about a 1% sell through rate or a 5% sell through rate - The Results are NEAR EXACTLY the same - A WASTE OF TIME

IMHO the fact that you accidentally listed at BIN instead of at auction had nothing to do whether the item was "your specialty".

We did it the other way around - Listed an old weird 'can't find anything about' book - the 600 plus page "THE History of Alarm Security" for $15 auction, didn't sell, relisted three, four times, didn't sell. At this point we would lower the price and if still not sold switch it to fixed next time. We 'lowered' the price to $150 by mistake and never noticed till it got a bid.
Unfortunately the poo poo head never paid. Eventually sold it out of the real store for $20.
