I posted my Xbox One S to be sold and I received an offer that I accepted. The buyer received my phone number and texted me asking for my PayPal email address (I thought that I had already linked my PayPal with my eBay account, but me being new to eBay, I thought that maybe they just didn't see that option, so I gave my email address to him). Soon afterwards, he was texting me saying that he had made the PayPal payment and that he was in Italy on a business trip (his account says he's based out of California) but he was needing me to send it to his son in Nigeria and that he included $100 for the extra shipping costs & needs it sent ASAP. However, I have been checking my PayPal constantly and have yet to see anything related to the payment. He texted me saying that I needed to check my email for a confirmation of payment, but I have not seen anything from PayPal. However, I did receive an email requesting that I provide a tracking number for the sold item before they release the PayPal payment to me. In this email, there were several grammatical errors and the sender's email address did not look like it was from eBay (the sender's email is servicepost@usa.com).

A standard scam from a scum bag preying on new sellers with high dollar electronics for sale.
You need to cancel immediately and block.
Never ever send your Paypal info to anyone. A genuine buyer has no need for it.
Suggestion: It would be really better to list lower dollar items first and buy some also so you get a feel for how eBay works.

Soon afterwards, he was texting me saying that he had made the PayPal payment
The most common scam on ebay.
You probably need to use BIN/Immediate Payment Required to sell this thing. That blocks this particular scam.

Ha, ha, ha. Never send your PayPal address to anyone. This attempted scam is so obvious, I find it hard to believe your posting is real. Everyday, some poor soul on eBay falls for this scam. This should be in the welcome email eBay sends to every new user.

Yep, scam.

SCAM
48 hours from the date the sale ended, file an unpaid item dispute through Ebay and then close it 4 days later to get your fees back.
Sell it locally, Craiglist or Kiijiji, cash only.
If you continue to try to sell it on Ebay, as a new seller, you will have nothing but problems.
Good that you asked on the boards prior to shipping!

SCAM
In addition:
Never give anyone your PP email, that enables then to send fake emails to you.
Always log directly into your PayPal account for every sale made to verify payments and the correct *ship to* address.
File the unpaid item dispute in 2 days for unpaid items, close in 4 more so you receive back final value fees that were charged to you when item sells (even if never paid for)
Block the user ID, so they can not come back with that ID again.
Add ID here:

Sell low cost items and *learn* ebay before listing anything expensive.
Come here first with problems, before asking any ebay CSR by phone.

A buyer doesn't need your Paypal email address. Never give it out. This person is trying to scam you. New sellers are targets for this type of thing because they don't know any better. As mentioned before, cancel the order and block.

Wow, that scam has everything that common scamers use now, extra cash, different address, - even Nigeria.
OP, game systems and cell phones are in the top 3 scammed items on the net - be grateful that your buyer was so obvious that you checked.....many don't and lose the item. Can't say they lose the money in your case since your scammer never deposited money into your account in the first place.
It is never a good idea to list anything on ebay until you have as much recent seller feedback as the dollar value of the item you are listing, if it is over $30. That way you will have gained some experience in how to deal with when a buyer files a not received dispute on you and tracking says it was delivered, or if they claim that it doesn't work, and on and on. Because if you think that ebay has seller protection, I have a bridge to sell you

WOW... talk about world travelers...
registered in cal,
in Italy on business trip.
Son in Nigeria, no doubt in the UN relief corp.
More red flags than a North Korean parade.
As the others have said...
Never EVER give out personal info, only scammers want it, to fake you out.
You can do the unpaid item way, ( not that it will stop a scammer )
( you can also do a "problem with buyers address )
DO NOT DO OUT OF STOCK
And your PP to only take US funds, but even that is easy to get around
( the "Monkey Boy" has bank accounts and passports... well... here and there )
LOL... my phone recorder thingy, says " Thanks for calling Skip Co. Skippy Jones CEO. "
Double snort... the wife says why is her computer named "Skippy"
Be sure to set up your excluded countries in ebay listings.
( I only sell to the US, but if a buyer out country sends a message, through ebay, I consider it )
I sell aircraft parts, and fly boys are good honest buyers
Sounds like the Nigerian scammer jacked a US based dormant account.
If you ever have a question, or feel something is "off"
Stop here at the boards first, some really great sellers are here to help.
( and they know ebay better than the CS at ebay. )
ebay is fun and easy.... but you gotta know what to do when things go wonky.
( and the spell checker.... well not so much )
