Allowing not received cases to be opened before 1 business day has passed

I just want to get this out there because it has happened twice to me in 3 months.

a customer bought a cd from me at 9:56pm Friday. I mailed the disc on Monday morning, and the usps carrier scanned it "delivered" instead of "pickup". The customer was able to open a not received case, even though it has not been a full business day since they purchased.  It makes it appear as though I've done something wrong, and is frustrating that this is even possible.

It is entirely possible that an item ordered late Friday could be delivered Monday.  I've had it happen.  When the buyer saw the mis-scanned entry and discovered no package, what else were they to do?
