Pretty sure what I suspected all along is true as it just happened to me as a buyer.
Was looking for a widget and tried every sort option, including lowest incl shipping.
Best I could find was 9.87 incl shipping (and ST now of course).
Lo and behold - right there on the purchase screen were 3 other identical widgets - ALL at a lower price & including shipping (or with FS) none over $6.99.
No wonder buyers just cancel.
Show the options before they purchase - not AFTER.

So, the question of the day is: What did you do? Did you cancel? Or did you stick with your purchase? (I know that's three questions, but whatever.)
I apparently buy such obscure stuff that I've never had that happen to me.
Gee, sorta makes a person wonder why those listings didn't come up in your search results, huh? How many other items are we missing that don't turn up in our search results? I know this irritates sellers, but it's also annoying (at best) for buyers.
Full disclosure: I still think eBay's search algorithms are better than Amazon's. I like Amazon and shop there a lot, but their results show me all kinds of items that are nothing like what I was searching for.

It's mind boggling isn't it? Why would you put the buyer thru all that? Paypal makes more money (well $.30 anyway) Seller has to go thru all that baloney plus block the buyer. Ebay has to refund the fees and get less in return from the lower priced item. It's really kindergarten around here.

Obviously the programmer who set that up is an Elbonian spy.

I'm a seller, so no I didn't cancel. It just bleeped me off.

that would be a programmer in India who is hell bent on destroying ebay so his rich indian uncle who owns an internet selling venue could pick up some more buyers

Good one, LOL! (Dilbert comic strip reference, for those that didn't get it).
