After 22+ years I'm out. Sellers have no protection

Last month I sold a camera lens , that was returned to me just a shell with all the insides ( motor) taken out. I took it as a cost of doing business and moved on

1 week ago I got a return request on an item listed " for parts" "not working" with plenty of pictures listed

https://www.ebay.com/itm/145286954231

Reason for return being the buyer cant find additional parts needed to install the product so they claimed "Reason Missing parts or pieces".  Parts that were never promised, implied  or listed. If the parts wouldve been included that wouldve been a $400 auction

Contacted ebay Twitter team and was told to accept the return no matter what

"Even if a buyer chooses a wrong return reason, they have options to get their money back.  ~Jessica"

There's no seller protection at all. Scammers can claim whatever they want and they get away with it.
I'm probably done selling and I'll either close my account or use it just for buying
The above is clearly a buyer remorse, buyer believed they can source extra parts, and when they could not they misused the returns. Shipping one way was $55.

Exactly they would rather side with a buyer who has practically no feedback who makes them no money and **bleep** off the seller who makes them a lot of money

If you refund the buyer yourself without forcing eBay to step in, they will refund the Final Value Fees that were deducted from the payment, so in other words you should be seeing $83 going back from your account and the remainder being eBay fees refunded to him.

If eBay has to step in to refund the buyer, they will keep the FVFs and you will have to refund in full.

As it sounds like you have the item back again in good condition, block that buyer and try relisting again, hopefully with more success this time.

I could not agree more.  I didn't think much of it because I have been a very small seller with only just under 1000 feedback since the year 2000.  However, recently I had someone leave negative feedback on a watch taking me from 100% to 97%. The person left me the feedback without even telling me there was an issue, only to determine it was from when it was shipped, not on my end. eBay denied me any opportunity to dispute the feedback, despite verifying that the person simply left it without trying to resolve the issue. This is on top of the fact that all people have to do is "change" their mind, causing sellers to lose money.  I am going to move to Amazon and give it a go.

did not reread this thread in its entirety, but I am amused to see a seller that publicly announces their departure ........................................................still here over a year later.🤣

some leave, but others reconsider when they get to the boarding gate and head back to the ticket counter for a refund.
