Advice

I recently sold an electronic gaming device in an auction. The highest bidder has 0 feedback and seems a bit suspect. What are my protections as a seller? Is it safer to cancel the item and refund their money and take a defect or is it safe to send? PayPal is confirming I’ve received payment but I’m concerned they will cancel it or make some other type of false claim. Any advice from long time sellers is appreciated.

How do they seem suspect? Everyone was new at one time. Did they say something in particular?

You have no protections as a seller. Generally, they pay, you ship to the address on the sale is how eBay works. The buyer can say they got a rock from you. EBay doesn't know who is telling the truth. Generally the buyer will win.

If you cancel the sale, you refund the payment, you get a ding on your account. Too many of these cancellations can hurt your performance, and may lead to losing your account in the future.

Just making sure I can’t get scammed because their address doesn’t appear to be matching up with anyone by that name... should I require a signature at delivery?

If you logged into Paypal and the money is there you need to ship the item to the address that pops up when you go to print the label.  YES they can file an item not as described on e bay for 30 days afrter the receipt date or 180 days on PayPal.

The first rule of e bay fight club is to NEVER EVER NEVER NADA UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES Llist something you cannot afford to lose.

This quest stands on the edge of a blade...stray but a little and you shall fail to the ruin of us all.

Ship it. Some buyers just start buying or did not receive any feedback yet. Do not see any risk in that. You are paid.

If reluctant, in the future listings you can ban buyers with 0 feedback or negatives etc during listing

If there is something wrong with the address, you can cancel the sale based on problems with the address and you won't get a penalty for that. You will lose your Paypal fee though.

There is none.

This needs to be thought about before listing an item.

I don't sell any high priced/scammed items, but I love getting new buyers.

Have a great day.

So if I cancel the transaction PayPal automatically gives them their funds back, I lose my PayPal fee and get a strike?
