I didn't realize the item(s) had gone out the door already, he ordered 9 of one item, I accepted the cancel request but it didn't auto refund. The Post office can't get the box back, What will happen? It says I have 10 days to refund. We had upgraded him to Priority mail 2 day shipping instead of the free first class they were going out since he ordered 9, so we have a tracking number at least. Will eBay see the tracking and require him to return it for a refund or am I just out the $400 and the items?

You should be able to do an intercept at the PO. It will cost about $15.

I'd go the the USPS web site and set up an account, then go here and see if they can intercept the package. https://www.usps.com/manage/package-intercept.htm
Or, if you still haven't refunded, tell the buyer to Refuse the package and you'll refund when you see it's on it way back or it makes it back if there's time.

I was thinking this exact same thing.

I actually tired that. But it comes back as "Unfortunately, this item is ineligible for USPS Package Intercept®"
Maybe because it's 2 day Priority Mail? I'm not sure. I called the local post office, and they said as it already went to the sort facility it will be delivered to the destination address in 2 days.

Then definitely give the buyer a heads up. Tell him you were so prideful of your shipping quickly that you made this mistake. Chances are he's a good guy and will just refuse it.

Maybe the cancellation didn't go through since you had already printed a label. When I accept a cancellation request, I believe my refund happened at that time. I'm just going on memory, though, since it's been awhile.

I'm hoping that's it, I see I got an email from ebay stating "Problem processing cancellation" in the subject. no real details as to why in the message. the case is still open on the website though.
