AM I READING THIS RIGHT?? increasing monthly zero insertion fee listings for MOST sellers starting

SERIOUSLY!!  I just looked at the SO-CALLED increases for MOST sellers.  As with everything eBay management does, you have to read the fine print, or in this case asterisk.  So it looks like to me, a Premium Store owner who sells in the Toys & Hobbies section, I will be taking the eBay shaft.  Your (selected category) collectible card games encompasses MOST of the sellers in the Toys & Hobbies??  I imagine the sellers are having a bonanza in that category.  How does that one obscure category comprise MOST of the sellers??

So now I have to end the extra listings that go beyond my store allotment or be charged triple the store rate to LET them relist, not end as it used to (a whole other issue).  To me it is no better than a drug dealer that gets you hooked and then jacks up the price.

Just when I thought you people were starting to get it you show me who you really are!!

Time to start shopping this store around

Hi @cpyzz

All the posters with nothing for sale are using posting ID's. You can have quite a few different ID's on eBay, some people have buying ID's, selling ID's and then and an ID for posting here.

I do hope things get better for you 🙂

Leaving clothing out of the free listings sucks for me.  I think online purchases of clothing has gone UP during the Pandemic instead of down....they should have included the clothing/fashion category!

Clothing is not selling very well at my B&M job at the moment.  A lot of people are working from home and therefore don't need to buy new/nice clothing for work, and with events/parties/etc. canceled, people don't need clothes for going out either. We usually do brisk business clothing-wise but that department has been relatively dead since we reopened.

I get your points, and yes the changes only benefit certain sellers and not others. If you don't list in one of the select categories, then you're stuck paying insertion fees while others aren't. Not sure how anyone can say that's fair, it clearly is not.

As an example, I list in most of the categories they mentioned; books, music, movies, and video games. I can make 50,000 fixed price listings and pay nothing, while someone else makes a few hundred listings and gets charged listing fees for all of them.

So I can save tens of thousands of dollars a year in listing fees and have a freaking toys r us of media on ebay practically for free, while others get shorted and forced to pay up for every last listing.

My best recommendation is start selling in those free categories yourself.

Oh my goodness, I didn't mean it to come as though you've offended me!  Nothing of the sort!  I apologize if I came across that way.  It was just an off the cuff reply b/c I really don't remember getting that many offers in the past, that's all.   I'm just annoyed (not at you) that they left out one of the biggest revenue generating categories.  I'm not feeling well today & I apologize if I came off a bit cranky, absolutely nothing directed at you.

I appreciate your comment about the other benefits to a store & I def will take them into account.  I've been selling since 97, so I've seen a lot of changes along the way & do know the benefits of a store.

I don't understand why they only included collectible cards under Toys & Hobbies.

Surely they noticed how well other categories in the Toys section were selling (IF that was one of the criteria for the additional free listings).

I'm sincerely relieved but this is funny.  I needed the laugh, thank you.  If we were having a conversation face to face I could just see us talking, I think by the time we got to the end we wouldn't know what the heck started the conversation.  Too funny.  But seriously, I'm glad it did not offend you as I wouldn't want to do that at all.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.  I hope that passes quickly for you.

Deceptive claiming benefits most sellers. 10 select categories listed do not include the other 90 categories currently in eBay. The so-called select categories that are listed are 1/10th of the categories eBay has, and that doesn't include Motors or B&I.  To claim that these extra listings benefit most is like saying most of covid-19 in this country is under control. A LIE!!

I also sell in Toys & Hobbies but not in collectible cards. I am very upset that eBay is giving me 50,000 free listings that I cannot use. At this point, any free listings that I could use would be better than 50,000 that are useless to me.

In addition to those  extra listings with category constraints, eBay also increased the basic free listings for sellers who have no store or who have a store at the Starter or Basic level. I have no idea whether those 3 groups constitute "most" sellers.

It's always the same names that come running to defend eBay.  Are you on the payroll??
