So after over 18 years on ebay - most as a TRS (when it meant something) - I refused to opt into ebay managed payments, and left ebay .
I wonder if ebay misses any of us? - when I look at the 6 figure sales I do on Amazon - I wonder if ebay misses the commission on those sales? I also wonder what the real reason was for trying to force many of us - who use other online venues, as well as our own sites, into a seperate payment system we did not want - nor need?
I actually was just allowed to LIST a closeout of a lot worth $2000 for $850 (7 of them) ... without managed payments - but not allowed to edit it - once I tried , I got the "must use managed payments to list or update" screen.
How does that make ANY common sense?

I'm now in Managed Payments, after holding out for many months.
I was surprised to find out that eBay apparently looked at the various banks I have attached to my PP account, chose the one that was :
Given a choice I would have opted for my American bank, but that option is not available or in US dollars although "my" USD account is not actually in my name.
Which brings up a security issue with Paypal. I had several accounts attached to my PP account and one was not even in my name. Could anyone add a bank account to a random PP account then, and start moving money? Particularly if the eBay and PP accounts were little used.

Actually at least in my case it takes Amazon longer to pay than Managed Payments.
According to the rep at Amazon who helped me understand the site this/that Amazon is set for changes after the new year which might in some ways account for changes at eBay. Walmart has a distinct advantage in purchasing power, regional distribution, attracting consignors to their retail outlets, aka: You can shop say Amazon online vs going to Walmart which Walmart is instant per se, no wait. Walmart is aggressively attracting specific warehousing operations and costing is WAY better than Amazon, in some areas as much as 50% better. I was told the "big vendors" at Amazon cannot do well given the "race to the bottom" repricing machines and thus come 2022, Amazon is going to be shedding many of the small business operations. According to him, this has been in the works as one big reason Amazon has created the fulfillment system rather than the traditional UPS, FedEx, USPS. Essentially the private sellers using FBA have and are paying for that fulfillment system which ultimately will result in them being excluded in favor of high volume businesses in order for them be able to compete effectively/conveniently against Walmarts strong retailing abilities. In other words, they're seeking scrap the diversity of products & obvious issues with small businesses in favor of convenience and high volume as otherwise Walmart wins out.
Not four weeks ago I needed buy a bunch of rather common stuff for our camping excursions and 8 out of 10 times Walmart beat out Amazon pricing by anywhere from 25-55% and product available either at store or delivered to store freely where I can even inspect it right there onsite. Amazon pricing was a full 10-25% higher than quality vendors here at eBay. I'd shopped eBay for all of it which be about 15%-20% higher than Walmart if it were not for the fact I didn't need worry about 20+ different vendors. In other words, Walmart created a uniform consistent experience. We bought lighting, cords, cookware, gear and more totaling about $700 at Wally World. Exact same stuff at Amazon was near $1200 and here at eBay closer to $950 albeit a few items similar but not same.
In as far as my sales go, yea, AMZ is more brisk than here at eBay and I don't cross list products listing same items at both sites. I'd much rather put it all at eBay but do due to the unexplainable sales way up then sales way down which I dont experience there I'd do just that.

my MAIN issue with "managed payments".....
when a buyer pays with paypal the seller is charged a fee for that. then ebay ALSO charges a fee on top of that. DOUBLE the already too high fees. so, if i were to sell a cheap item for $1, it would cost me around 80-85 cents. thats a pretty high percentage rate

i tried an amazon affiliate site once. i had been injured and couldn't do anything else for months. so for 16 hours a day for 3 months i advertised their stuff for a comission.. when i started making a profit they took all of my earnings and shut my page down. i have never been back to amazon for anything since

With Managed Payments, there is no "Buyer" fee - there is only the fees from E-Bay for a Seller. Perhaps you are confusing how MP works? How is the Buyer "charged a fee"? Buyers pay whatever is advertised as the cost + shipping + tax, if applicable. Sellers, are charged the applicable fees when their item sells.
There is no change for a Buyer under MP, except they now have more ways to pay for their items than before.

Not sure why this thread was brought back, but a quick update. Managed Payments will be at roughly 90% of all transaction volume by the end of this month.

I stopped selling on eBay when they tried to force my account to managed payments. Not giving eBay my SS#. And I don't want to wait for eBay to pay. So now I post on Facebook. And I suspect many people will.
1) No sales commissions
2) You can dictate the terms.
3) No paypal/ebay refunds for stupid reasons.
All in all, I must thank eBay for forcing this change.
