So after over 18 years on ebay - most as a TRS (when it meant something) - I refused to opt into ebay managed payments, and left ebay .
I wonder if ebay misses any of us? - when I look at the 6 figure sales I do on Amazon - I wonder if ebay misses the commission on those sales? I also wonder what the real reason was for trying to force many of us - who use other online venues, as well as our own sites, into a seperate payment system we did not want - nor need?
I actually was just allowed to LIST a closeout of a lot worth $2000 for $850 (7 of them) ... without managed payments - but not allowed to edit it - once I tried , I got the "must use managed payments to list or update" screen.
How does that make ANY common sense?

I buy freely, but ebay has never forced me into their "low fees mere pennies" ADYEN situation. I sell my things locally through Facebook. At 74, I don't need the stress. I miss the old Ebay days when not much went askew. I am happy being a kitchen table seller in a dusty little town. Battling a faceless interloper over the phone is such an undignified experience. My best wishes to each of you.
I am 72 ... I hear you .... in the old days I was a big advocate for ebay - and on the boards as : "CharleyRoberts" . it was fun and profitable - I buy very little here now - and the only thing I try to sell is getting rid of excess stock, without impacting my amazon prices.

You've been missing?

So ebay is still good for you in some small way, that's a positive for you, happy to hear you are happy with amazon!

It would be nice to have a solution for Paypal on Ebay.
But will it not be given to Srilanka?

Jury is still out on that - we shall see - but if it wasn't for being forced into ANOTHER payment system (MP) ... I would probably still sell some items here ... Amazon has been wonderful for us - , before I cut back our business (at 72 I no longer need to conquer the world) .. we hit a tad short of 7 figures on Amazon - never even close on Ebay - though my prices on ebay were lower.... I wish no one ill ... and appreciate boardies who want to help - not just start fights , somehow thinking being a regular on a board gives them some street creds.
My post was an observation - that they let me post something - just not edit it LOL ... not a lament nor regrets... was curious how the boards react ... same old **bleep** as a rule,

You mean before the corporate raiders forced eBay to spin off PayPal. And if you check, Carl Icahn and friends sold off their eBay shares as soon as they could.
That split was all about looting eBay to bolster PayPal.
Icahn exits eBay stake, opts for PayPal after spinoff

eBay doesn't run managed payments, a company called Adyen does. That revenue that PayPal was getting, Adyen now gets, probably at a lower rate than PayPal got, but ebay is still losing a large chunk of revenue to the payment processor.
LOL. What happened after eBay chose PayPal to be their payment processor of choice? eBay bought PayPal and captured the whole revenue stream.

I know some folks prefer Amazon and others love Facebook but make no mistake, they may have some advantages over eaby but that also comes with clear disadvantages so that... While eaby may not be the best, (it isn't), it almost certainly comes out to a zero sum equation in the end...
Way I see things, you can have soup with peas...
Or you can have peas with soup.
Now whether some folks think or even strongly believe that one is better than the other?
Whatever floats your boat, fine by me.
As to whether eaby "misses" those sales, I believe I'm seeing extra sales this year because of sellers who left... There aren't that many unique items on eaby, truly unique, not another seller on the whole platform selling the same thing, so unless you were selling all truly unique items... It would appear your "lost" sales simply transferred to other sellers, and likely rather seamlessly from a buyer's perspective, not only did eaby not miss you but most of the buyers likely never even noticed either.

4: Are you aware you will most likely need to enroll in Managed Payments in order to get the payout for your $2,000 or $850 closeout lot?
5: Are you aware that neither eBay nor anyone else runs a Managed Payments Martyr Hall of Fame for those who refused to enroll?
Does anyone of us who successfully transitioned away from ebay care?
I don't, I went out with PP coming in, into my own website, another platform and have done quite well with OOAK. We all make our choices - you, me, ebay, everybody.

Have you received any communication, from eBay, begging you to come back? Either way, there's your answer.

I am positive that they do not miss me, oh well.

LOL - #4 - no I won't ... they either pay into paypal - or it does not get shipped.... period ... we use paypal as an alternate on our own website either way.#5 - of course ....
Since that will never happen, you're just wasting your time and the buyer's time, and you're tying up the buyer's money.
Why would you do that? Why would you knowingly screw over a buyer who's done nothing to you? Says a lot about you.

Really? .... since it shows paypal on the listing ... I guess you know more about it than ebay.
Your ignorant comment above shows much about you.
