So after over 18 years on ebay - most as a TRS (when it meant something) - I refused to opt into ebay managed payments, and left ebay .
I wonder if ebay misses any of us? - when I look at the 6 figure sales I do on Amazon - I wonder if ebay misses the commission on those sales? I also wonder what the real reason was for trying to force many of us - who use other online venues, as well as our own sites, into a seperate payment system we did not want - nor need?
I actually was just allowed to LIST a closeout of a lot worth $2000 for $850 (7 of them) ... without managed payments - but not allowed to edit it - once I tried , I got the "must use managed payments to list or update" screen.
How does that make ANY common sense?

flo_mingo,
Well, that is odd. I've been in MP for a while now, and have never had any trouble printing out ebay shipping labels using my pending payments. Hope you can get that resolved!

NO, I doubt the miss you. There are millions of sellers and will always be someone out there wanting to sell stuff.

If I’m looking for something unique, maybe eBay loses out on a sale, but just as likely as I find something else that catches my eye.
And most things are not as rare or unique as people think they are. I had one book, for example, that I was sure was super rare because I had to go all over my city to find a copy in a bookstore back when I originally bought it.
It's selling for about $2.50 these days and there are plenty of copies listed.

As a supplier, does Amazon issue you a 1099-K?
Yes.... and they show the sales tax collected that they rebated ONLY on the 1099 ... an accounting nightmare for monthly booking 😳

Anyway, unless you sell numerous amounts of the 'one and only' and had no competition, ebay won't miss 1% of the sellers that leave. Buyers will just buy that same thing from someone else.
Leave finance to the pros... you are embarrassing yourself.

Oh, please tell me what I am missing so I can quit 'embarrassing' myself.
Unless or course this was nothing but a diversion for a comment made that you have no real reply to.....

Factoring sales, as supply chain finance, sounds great for the factor as all the headaches fall squarely on the supplier; save this, which affects all parties involved and makes the idea untenable in my opinion:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Know-Your-Customer (KYC). Most funders require KYC checks to be performed on suppliers being enlisted as new trading partners. This procedure not only increases the total processing cost, but it also puts the business case for all parties including the service provider, funder, buyer and ultimately the supplier at risk." - Wikipedia

Enjoy it while it lasts. 2021 is the last year for the $20,000 200 transaction threshold. The new threshold will be $600 & 0 transactions and Ebay will kick out a 1099K to our friends at the IRS.

Why would that matter for anyone who hasn’t been evading taxes?

EBay will miss us more next year when the income transaction threshold drops to $600 & 0 transactions. Millions of hobby sellers in the US will move to smaller platforms with no managed payments. Not as lucrative for the little guy but really bad for eBay. Unfortunately for eBay, they didn't see this one coming. EBay stock will definitely be a 'sell' by October unless they have something really special up their sleeve.

Sellers aren’t worth anything close to what their selling fees are. It’s just reality - eBay means more to me than I mean to eBay.

This change in the reporting threshold is not an eBay policy; it is a federal law for all payment processors including PayPal.
How will sellers on those "smaller platforms without managed payments" accept their payment? If they accept those payments via PayPal, they will still get a 1099K at the $600 threshold. It will just come from PayPal instead of eBay.

Do you sell anything or do you just flit around and post all day? 2000 + posts since February? A lot of people aren't aware of the new rules coming in 2022. If you something constructive to contribute, by all means post away.
