A question to the wise..How do you advertise?

I am a private person and don't like to sell to friends or relatives, I want to know how I can use Facebook or other platforms to promote my items without having to deal with them. LOL

On your listings, in the upper right corner, there are icons for FaceBook and Twitter.

Click the icons and you can post the listings on your accounts.

I have hang tags with both of my stores on it and some that give discounts.  I just stick one in the package and now those buyers know I sell on two sites.

I pay eBay a very healthy commission to put my items in front of buyers.

If I were doing the work to drive buyers to my items, I would be driving them to a place where I was not paying a very healthy commission to someone for the work that I had done.

Here's a copy / paste of an answer that I posted for a similar question 🙂

Friends don't let friends SPAM their feed Smiley Happy

Set up a business Facebook page, a business Instagram and a separate Twitter handle.

Invite your friends and family, follow some people on IG & Twitter (find them by keywords that you will be using to post).

As someone else said, be careful of Twitter. They do ban "spammy" accounts.

Don't just post links as-is. eBay's default "check it out" content is just lame LOL.

Try to post actual content in between listing posts. Stay on topic, though ... content related to your items is good .... pics of your pets and your lunch, not so much Smiley Wink

Example....I sell china and crystal.  I post my items ... and I post table setting ideas ... pictures of lovely food on lovely plates, articles about summer dining, fall dining, winter dining, etc ....

I also put a business card in every package. It lists my eBay store, my Etsy shop and all of my social media and business email address ... I have gotten cross sales from Etsy and eBay because if that ... and new followers on one or the other of the accounts.

It will take a while to build a following, but it will happen if you are consistent and interesting.

I have found that IG is bringing the most sell-through lately.

Don't ignore Pinterest.

But another warning about that. Keep your boards clean. Delete all broken links (solids and ended unfolds over 90 days old) Pinterest will derank you for stale broken links.

Pinterest images are very googleable ... make sure that your content is spot on with good keywords and direct links.

As with the others, set up a separate account.

What you are trying to do is create a "brand"....so your social media handles should be all the same (or as close to it as possible) and they should relate to your store name or username
