Why all of a sudden is ebay asking to upload a photo ID after already forcing me to give my social security number? This is an online store, there is no effing reason to require that much personal information. They now notified me that they will hold my funds until I update that information. Okay eBay. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I'm officially done with this crappy website. Customer service is trash with no one who speaks English and you can't even contact them directly because they don't want to deal with anybody. Robbing people blind with their outrageous selling fees.

Just a head's up: If you fail to provide the requested information to eBay, which is your right, the funds will eventually be transferred by eBay to your state's unclaimed money unit. In New Jersey, that's the Unclaimed Property Administration, NJ Treasury Department. To retrieve your money from that agency, you will have to provide any and all identification that the agency demands. So, rest assured, that in six to 18 months, and after meeting all the NJ requirements, you will get your funds.

Oh, dear.
The above will surely be misinterpreted by all of those whose DNA lacks the gene for irony, sardony, and/or sarcasm. 😲 😄

Just to put you at ease - eBay doesn't issue tickets for moving violations. Nor do they check your driving record to let you sell here. They just want to know who they are dealing with. You would be glad you did it if your acct ever gets hi jacked.

Yep. In fact, they will want more verification and more details of identity, residence, and so on, than eBay requires, but, hey, OP can refuse them, too, and, on principle, just do without the money.
