A guy with a seemingly bad reputation wants to buy an item. Should I let him?

A prospective customer has offered less on an item.  I countered with an offer, and he responded that his acceptance was blocked because he has two unpaid item strikes (which is a block I have in place).  He asked me to modify the listing so he can buy.  Out of curiosity, I took a look at what I have visibility of.  He has feedback of 17, and 5 of those are actually false positives warning that he doesn't pay, "do not deal with," etc.  He has never left feedback for anyone.  I know I could set the listing to require immediate payment, but I'm still concerned enough that I'm figuring I shouldn't enter into business with this person.  Am I being overly cautious?  Is there any reason I should give him a chance?

Five false positives for UIDs?

Some sellers don't know how to use the system. If they had filed UIDs they would not have been able to leave any FB.

But that makes at least SEVEN unpaid items.

If you allow him to buy, you take the item off the market for someone with a solid trackrecord as a deadbeat, and might possibly miss a bidder with real cash on the barrelhead.

Block him.

There was a good reason why you decided to Block bidders with Strikes.

I believe such deadbeats can buy Fixed Price /Immediate Payment Required lots. Because either he pays or the listing remains live.

Depends on how much you want to sell that item and are happy with the price.

But do tell him before you unblock that it would be IPR.  See if he is still interested.

Should you sell to me, I would not for some of the reasons that you've posted, so No, I would sell to him.

I think you've convinced me my gut feel is right.  Thank you.  I was not aware that even people who would be blocked for too many unpaid items could still buy fixed price/IPR items.  Interesting...is that really true?

Never heard of that.

But do know that if you block a buyer he can set up another account and purchase it from you that way.
