Hello, last night I sold an item via an offer I got. Once I accepted the offer the buyer messaged me saying he won't be able to pay until sunday and the earliest they can pay is friday. Am I allowed to cancel the order over this?

The buyer has 4 days to pay.
Wait 4 days.
Cancel the order on the 5th day. Reason: Buyer did not pay.
Buyer will get a strike.

You should not cancel. Just wait the four days and then you can cancel for non payment. This way the buyer receives a strike on their account. Just two of those strikes in one year will prevent them from being able to purchase from most sellers. Your item will sell once again, just be a little more patient and wait the 4 days. Best of luck to you....

they've already made it clear they have no intention to pay within the 4 days, I don't want to have to wait to relist my item because the seller decided to omit information in the initial offer

Well, first of all, yes it is a bit underhanded, but how bad do you want the sale? Will it hurt to wait the extra days.
Other than that you can cancel the sale as "not paid for" and the buyer will get an unpaid item strike. You will not get a ding for that but you will if you just up and cancel it for no good reason.

Per eBay rules, you cannot cancel, using "buyer didn't pay" as the reason until it's gone unpaid for 4 days. Then you can cancel on day #5.

Oh you don't want to wait?
Well then you can break the rules and cancel the sale.
What reason would you use?
There is no "buyer has no intention to pay".

Every once in a while, I get a buyer that needs an extra few days to pay. Not everyone is blessed to buy something and pay for it immediately. Not everyone has a credit card linked to a paypal account. Be grateful if you are one of those blessed folks. Be grateful too if you can wait a few extra days for a buyer to pay you too. Like the others stated, you need to wait at least 96 hours and 1 minute inorder to cancel and relist.

This has happened to me in the past. I replied to the buyer no problem. I let the sale ride and on day 6 they paid. If they would not have paid I would have simply re-listed the item and moved on.

You need to follow the polices for selling or you risk having your own account suspended. A seller needs a reason to cancel a transaction and buyer didn't pay simply isn't available until four days have passed. That is how online selling works. You have zero experience as a seller on this account, yet you have items up for sale. That makes you a target for people to abuse the rules on. It is up to you to protect your own account by not falling for the same tactics as those bad buyers. Follow the rules, be more patient, and everything will work in your favor. That item will sell again, they always do. Best of luck to you....

The least they could do is state in the offer that I'd have to wait for payment, that's what irritates me the most here. This wouldn't be an issue had they just been honest instead of waiting for me to accept the offer to tell me

I'm a little confused, but I think I get it " the buyer messaged me saying he won't be able to pay until sunday and the earliest they can pay is friday." - Can they pay Friday or Sunday it is not clear.
So they made an offer -you accepted -they then didn't pay ... for me, that is the answer, they didn't pay. It is up to you if you want to tolerate that and wait for a week. There are other reasons you can cancel but it won't help your ebay 'score'. Personally, I'd be annoyed, I'd block immediately and I'd be waiting for 4 days to be up to cancel.

yeah, that's basically what they did. They submitted an offer with no message, I accepted the offer, then they sent me a message saying they can't pay until sunday. I got them to say if they can see about friday but at this point I don't want to deal with this buyer's antics anymore. Also, despite the sale being on the 7th it's forcing me to wait until the 13th to cancel this

okay, it's saying the sale was on the 8th despite the offer being accepted on the 7th. Thank you ebay, very cool

I is annoying when buyers do that but it seems that your options are to cancel the order on Saturday the 13th or wait for payment on the 14th. I would probably wait the extra day but it is up to you. With an offer, there usually isn't a guarantee that a buy will pay right away.
