A buyer bought a jacket from us and returned it in bad condition. We reported it to Ebay but they went ahead to refund the buyer sharply in a rocket speed. Is it part of EBay policy to issue a refund with a speed of light especially one with dispute? Usually we are given about five days to issue a refund but something was chasing someone to issue this refund on our behalf within few hours. Is there something that one is not being told? Who is this buyer? Am I not also a buyer on Ebay?
To put salt to the injury, the response we got from Ebay Staff is that, " You have been making so much money on EBay so you should learn to incure bussiness loss". In my mind, "Which money?".
I feel some of you have been making so much money that was why I was getting "So much Money" comment.
A snail moves faster than what I I can refer as sale in our store, yet returns are made at a rocket speed by EBay on our behalf. Wonderful!!! "that is how to make money".
Back to my question, Why would EBay be so fast to issue this refund? Are there other factors in play? I would appreciate your response

It's not abnormal for refunds to be issued on delivery which is what you should have done.

Did you ask eBay to "step in" when you got the jacket back. Or did the buyer ask eBay to step in before the return was approved? If eBay is asked to step in, the 6 days to refund policy goes out the window. And as far as the damaged item, basically when the buyer returns something, they get a refund and if it's not the same item or in the same condition, eBay considers it the cost of doing business so there wasn't any reason for eBay to delay refunding the buyer.

Ebay as a third party does not see the item coming or going.
So they do not know what condition the item was when you sent it.

Usually the refund is given once hte item shows returned with delivery confirmation. So that is pretty standard behaviour.

I'm saying you should have refunded on delivery ... when you received the item. Since you didn't, the buyer complained and the company did it for you.

Yes, eBay policy for a "rocket speed" refund when you bring it to their attention that the an item has been returned.
There is an appeals process.
You can report the buyer for abusing "returns"

Things you should now know:
1. Doesn't matter what condition the item is in you will refund when the buyer returns the item.
Things you should also know:
1. If the buyer returns a rock or trash or an empty box you will refund.
2. No matter what the buyer claims is wrong you will accept the return.
3. If you accept returns, you take returns for any reason.
4. The buyer has three chances to get his money back for up to 180 days, eBay, Paypal and his credit card. Even if eBay would have denied him the refund Paypal or his credit card would not.
So the CSR was correct, if you wish to sell here for profit.... you must figure potential loss into your business model.... if the potential loss is too great to bear for an item, it shouldn't be sold. If you just wish to get rid of stuff and you don't care if you lose money, then have at it....
There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

When the item's tracking shows delivered back to the seller, the refund is given.

I have to admit that, if the CSR actually made that precise comment to you, they are not very tactful and probably in the wrong line of work. Of course, this is eBay so it probably doesn't really matter to their employer.

Oh! By the way, once the tracking shows that the return has been received there is no reason for the refund to be delayed. If there is an issue with the item that has been returned, you will need to file an appeal or, if appropriate, report potential mail fraud to the USPS Postal Inspectors.

But the written policy says the seller has 6 business days to insoect the item & issue the refund so its the principle here. If ebay was not asked to step in, the OP wasn't given the correct amount of time to issue the refund. Those 6 days matter when you want to fight the refund.

Why would EBay be so fast to issue this refund? Are there other factors in play?
As soon as the tracking supplied by the buyer shows it was delivered to you, eBay will issue the refund. There are no other factors at play - eBay has no way of knowing who is at fault, so they automatically side with the buyer.

That is because eBay chooses when a refund happens, but eBay does not choose when a buyer clicks the "buy" button.

Only if someone asks ebay to step in it and the seller loses.
