A Bid was retracted with no explanation. How Do I find out the EBay name of the Bidder?

A Bid was retracted with no explanation. The listing is an autographed football program.

How Do I find out the EBay name of the Bidder?

I KNOW a Bid was made. It appeared on my Seller's Active page. Then the Bid disappeared and the Listing shows "0"  in the Bid History.

I want to message the Bidder to find out why the bid was retracted. Is my lasting in error? Does the Bidder dispute the authenticity of the autograph?

ALL help is appreciated!

Without knowing the real reason the buyer retracted their bid, you are only making an assumption that they are being irresponsible and therefore should be block.  It may be the exact opposite.  It may have been the responsible thing for them to do by cancelling the bid.

Did you look at the Bid History as explained?

What about the Item Number or the exact Title of the Item with the cancelled bid?  If you post this someone may be able to give further guidance.

Why block them?
They may have a good (personal) reason for changing their mind.

And a Bid Retraction is a favour to the seller, since an unwilling buyer can delay 96 hours before paying, or not paying, pay and on receipt file a Not As Described claim, make the seller pay for return shipping and get a full refund.

That's the member you want to Block, not a bid retractor.

Could be they just changed their mind about the purchase.

I really do  not know why the Bidder retracted and the reason doesn't matter.

All I need is the Bidder's eBay ID so I can block this bidder and no thave future distractions.

No animosity to the Bidder: I just don't want to deal with Bid Retractions without explanation either before or after a retraction.

That's surprising that the retraction doesn't show on the listing's bid history page. If the listing had one bid and that bid was retracted or canceled, then the auction would show (0) bids. Did you click on the (0) on the listing page, and then scroll to the bottom of the bid history page?  If it doesn't show there, then I wonder if this actually was a cancellation by eBay, perhaps due to the bider being suspended.

Re: A Bid was retracted with no explanation. How Do I find out the EBay name of the Bidder?

eBay has policies in place to protect the privacy of its users, including bidders. As a seller, you won't be able to directly access the eBay username or contact information of a bidder who retracted their bid. However, you can try the following steps to gather more information or potentially contact the bidder:

  1. Check eBay Messages: Sometimes, eBay may send you a message explaining why a bid was retracted. Check your eBay messages to see if you received any communication regarding the bid retraction.

  2. Contact eBay Support: Reach out to eBay's customer support and explain the situation. They might be able to provide you with more information or assistance in contacting the bidder if necessary.

  3. Relist the Item: If you suspect there might be an issue with your listing (such as incorrect item information or unclear description), consider revising and relisting the item. This can attract new potential buyers and might help you avoid similar issues.

  4. Item Description: Make sure your item description is accurate and includes detailed information about the autographed football program's authenticity, condition, and any relevant details. This can help instill confidence in potential buyers.

You don't have to repeat this in every reply, we can all see and read the replies you make to anyone.

I wonder why you came up with the fake story to hide your real intentions (to block the bidder).

Why didn't you lead with that?

I think most people would just let it go.

It is unlikely to be a "fake" story.  It is something that happens from time to time.  Not an unusual thing at all.  This OP, for their own reasons, wants to block the buyer.  They can't, so that really is the end of the story.
