I made a point some days ago:
Haven’t you noticed that over the past couple of months he has announced tariffs and then postponed them. So we really don't know what we are going to wind up with.
Understand that Trump is a more of a deal maker than he is a politician. The announcements of tariffs are his equivalent of Pawn to King 4 - your move.
The news reports are that 70 countries have contacted Trump to renegotiate the tariff situation. I contend that was his plan all along. Some have already stated that they will remove or greatly reduce their tariffs on us.
The sky is NOT falling. Put your panic on hold.

It's all just a power play. Bend the knee.

Market up 2400...insane
@monica-sells
Intentional manipulation for all those that bought stocks at an all time low. Tariff for US importers from China raised to 125%.

That would include me.....I have admittedly already sold out of my 2 day positions
I did think posting this "pause' would help buyers/sellers from the perpetual "Will I pay a tariff if...." posts

He's playing checkers - China is playing chess.
And won't someone think of the penguins?!

Market manipulation.

There was no pause. That was fake.

The House of Representatives is set to vote tomorrow on the president’s budget package. There is a group of about a dozen GOP lawmakers there who are refusing to support passage of the legislation.
I believe that many of these same house members oppose presidential control and implementation of tariffs, which has traditionally been the purview of Congress.
The threat of tariffs has affected every constituency of every member of Congress.
I suspect that a deal is in the works that would exchange the 90 day “pause” for political support for the president’s budget — support that he needs to get the budget passed by the house.

@chapeau-noir
LOL! I did think of them first thing... The penguins were never going to suffer. It never ceases to amaze me that so many people still do not realize that the tariffs are at the expense of those who are in need of, and importing goods. The tariffs are paid by the US citizens. Nobody, for example, was importing goods from the 'penguin' countries anyway. It was just one of those things like saying "Italy was an ally of the United States since the time of ancient Rome." US citizens can likely count on their 'auto insurance' becoming more expensive since the "parts to fix their cars" are going to cost $125% more. The "red hats" fabricated and imported from China will increase as well.

Congress doesn't need more power. They don't do anything productive with the power they already have.

You can't state that countries are kissing my *** publicly even if true. Ego is getting out of hand.
It wouldn't take much for the world to turn against the U.S. and the effects would be even worse than the great depression.
Our government and corporate America have sent manufacturing overseas for years and now it's an issue. Really?

The entire tariff calculation was based on ignorance of how trade works.
However, it's yielding some comedy gold, including in a closed-door GOP meeting with hard-liner Greg Steube (R-FL) apparently exploding at speaker Johnson, calling him a liar and declaiming "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus!" The HoR has never not been colourful.
My view of how things are going in the House at this time can be illustrated by the video for "Nobody Speak" by DJ Shadow (feat. Run the Jewels) - (NSFW).

We need to wait & see if it's true.
