$6 seems like a pretty hefty fee for such a minor enhancement. I definitely need to pay closer attention before clicking submit.

Subtitles are pretty useless in my experience and certainly not $6...geez. YMMV

I accidently used that a few years ago. It was $5 then. As soon as I saw that $5 fee on my Monthly Invoice I called eBay and they removed it from the listing and credited me the $5 back.

Its price is based in part on your listing's asking price (or opening price, in the case of auctions) and whether you're listing in one or two categories.
That aside, yes, it's eBay's idea of Deterrent Pricing, jacking up the cost of options that they really don't want to support anymore. Bold Title is another one that's overpriced and of dubious value. I expect that they may be phasing them out altogether in the future.

Also on auction format vs fixed price. That $6 fee is for fixed price items over $150. You would pay only $1.50 to use a subtitle on an auction where bidding starts under $150.

... that's why I don't use subtitles.

Also the texts in Subtitles is not searchable.
So why i should pay $6 for more characters space which will not appearing on buyers searches....
