I listed something using my phone last night. 1st time using my phone to create a listing.
I noticed somewhere it said:
"42% of the listings in this category are promoted"
Just found that Interesting

I did an experiment this week.
Listed 3 same identical items...2 at 2% promoted and 1 at 20% promoted...and items are currently same items other sellers are selling.
2 at 2% are lower than other seller's pricing...plus free shipping.
I did about 15 different items...not just one item.
So when I click on other sellers items my items do not show up...not even the one at 20% promoted.
I would think the 20% promoted item(priced higher) would show up on other seller's same item but do not.
I am wondering how high sellers are promoting some items.
I thought it was an interesting experiment.
I wonder if sellers are promoting at 50% to show their identical items priced higher under my item(s) for sale.

I've done some of that also.
20, 30, 40 % promoting doesn't seem to get you what you think it should.
2, 3, 4 % promoting....not sure if a person can tell if it helped or not.
IMO: Promoting at eBay's "suggested/variable rate" seems to help the most. That's a fluctuating rate based on other sellers rates. I think?? It just kind of keeps you right there with others. If you exceed that, you get no better placement for your excess.
Which is why 100% won't get you seen any more so than "suggested"
I'm actually testing a few variations of Promotions right now (30 day tests).
300 related items......So far, it's pretty "blah".
After the 30 days is up, The next 30 will be something different to see which direction seems best.

I have also put 'Free International Shipping' in some of my titles without promoting.
That worked actually for my domestic sales more than International Sales.
I always had free domestic shipping but never put it in the 'title' until now.
For me...it's trying to get more 'repeat buyers'.
