I just sold an Ohio State Jersey for $26.99 and $7.00 shipping and ebay got $4.86 not counting the shipping cost which brings it to $10.84 I get $23.15 I am not a store or big company I am a hard working man and sell things here to help my income why do all us little guys have to pay fees and taxes for these sales? Ebay is getting more money hungry every day. If the raising fees continues who will sell on ebay? Certainly not the little people as Ebay keeps pushing to get rid of normal sellers they only want big companies so they can get bigger payouts for themselves and don't care about all us little sellers that made Ebay what it is today. GREED is the root of all evil and Ebay big wigs is showing their true colors. I for one will not be selling much if anything else on ebay. Looking into other venues to list and sell my collectibles.

Ok, so you think ebay should make less money....and you should make more on a transaction...........does that make you greedy?

sounds like a normal fee
how is a 4.86 charge 30%. that seems normal. i am part of managed payments and they take out 13 percent give or take which category. the price you pay to have the world buy your items.

Clearly you do not know how to properly compute your payout and fees. Is is not 30% that's ridiculous. Check here https://www.ebay.com/sh/performance/sales for the ACTUAL breakdown.

You pay on the final value of the item.
You pay on the tax.
You pay on the shipping cost.
And it does not come out to 30 percent.
Raise your prices...

You are charged fees on the total amount that the buyer paid so your percentage is around 14-15%
26.99 + 7.00 = 33.99
4.86 ÷ 33.99 = 14.4%
You charged for shipping, you received money for shipping. It is not considered a 'fee'.

Unfortunately, you are now realizing what all sellers are having to go through, and this is not exclusive to ebay. some people assume that sellers and businesses on those platforms are ripe with cash but it is hardly the case.

Payouts can be very confusing. EBAY deducts selling fees & shipping costs UPFRONT (balance is deposited into your checking account). EBAY holds back "shipping" so you have money available to print labels. When you print label (go to bottom of page) click on "use pending funds". If you don't use EBAY pending funds...that money will go back to you.
Selling fees based on (purchase price + shipping costs + sales tax) plus 30 handling charge. Of course, there could be additional fees if you promoted your listing or have international sales.

Thinking you math is a bit off

eBay provides a service and charges for that service.
You sold a jersey and charged for that jersey.
You need to charge enough to cover all expenses, otherwise, what's the point?
Do the math before you list to make sure it's worth it to you.

LOL, you are saying you want all the money. So aren't we all greedy??
Simple solutions, raise you prices to accommodate the fees.
Sell something you make money on.
From listing to shipping I make about 66%. The buyer pays the rest.

In retail business, the profit is made when the business acquires it's inventory.
Obtain your collectibles from a cheaper source.
Good luck.

$4.86 is not 30% of $26.99

So you sold it for $26.99 and wound up with $23.15 net, a net deduction of $3.84 from your selling price. That sounds reasonable to me. If you are not making at least a few dollars out of the $23.15 then maybe you raise your price to, let’s say, $29.99.
In other words, if you are not making money it is your fault for not properly calculating your costs and setting your price accordingly.
