2nd case opened on one item.

A buyer contacted me about receiving an empty package and opened a case for a refund. The buyer sent photos which showed the item was ripped open and was empty. I contacted ebay about it and they closed the case in my favor since tracking confirmed that the item was delivered.

Now the buyer has opened a return request claiming the item is "defective or not working".  Now what happens since ebay did close the case in my favor?

this is a common issue for a CSR

it does no good to try and explain your position

it simply does not matter

you are never going to get satisfaction from the CSR

if you think you can get satisfaction from a CSR you are being abusive to them

written communication is much more effective

trying to get your point accross to a CSR is futile and is abusive and heres why

a CSR does not care about catching a crook.....or a lier..........

its not there job..never was and it never will be

buyers are caught red handed every single day on ebay

exposing deceptive messsages and so forth is not going to mean a thing

cathing a buyer lying to you is OK..........ebay states they can change there mind for any reason at all

the dog had your ripped package all along.......you sent the wrong color........

i never said it was missing.....................its just not here...........who said anything at all about it being missing

you have misread my message to you..........

my neighbor is the one who said you were a crook...........not me....I was just on the porch thinking out loud

all of this can indicate a he said  she said situation

its not up to you to sway the opinion of a CSR who is instructed to remain neutral

its not in the CSR  job description  to be catching people red handed......when being deceptive

That's not my experience with Ebay CS. I've been satisfied every time I got off the phone.

Including the courtesy refund they gave me when a grumpy customer filed SNAD (and got free return shipping) because the collar of a dress wasn't "white enough," and moreover damaged the dress in a tiff returning it in a careless fashion.

Plus I was assured Ebay tracks these situations, so - while I don't know what they specifically said to her - I DO KNOW she and others like her are on the radar.

I even believe Ebay when they say some of these folks will lose their access to MBG at some point.

I figured that would happen!

Your buyer should have started with the Not As Described claim but they didn't realize that an INR which seemed logical would have the result it did (you got eBay to close it out).

Go back to your previous thread and do what I suggested in the very first reply.

That's a little difficult when they buyer has no responded to me ONCE! But she has no problem getting aggressive in the comments of the case.

I dont disagree but its a 2 way street. If its a good buyer with a good rep ( well established rep anyway) one should assume an animal or thief ripped open the package. Not the buyers fault, nor the sellers fault. Neither should be mad at the other.

Unfortunately this company has built and grown the us vs them mentality by making almost all decisions based on buyer is always right mantra. While this keeps good buyers around, it also excaserbates and fuels the bad buyers to continue and bring friends with no fear of reprisal. This happens now so frequently that its hard to ask a seller to assume its not a scam.

Btw Red.....i took a chance and listed some higher end stuff. I sold one last night and it looks like it should go fine. Still taking all normal safety measures though. That being said, other than this one reasonable offer that ended in a purchase, tge other multiple conta ts have been completely negative lowball offers ie $150, $300 etc on $1450 item with free shipping. And multiple zero feedback out of country buyers sending messages to please ship out of country.

The scams are rampant. I hate it for good buyers but its so not fair to tell sellers to trust buyers in cases like this one.

Just stick to your guns. Let us know how it shakes out.

If I may ask, what was the amount of the transaction?

So I called ebay. I was told not to respond to the return request. They told me the buyer could or could not be lying so they want to deal directly with her.  They need more information from her in order to make a decision about a possible refund.  I was also told they would want her to contact her post office, USPS and possibly file a police report and through all that they would need to communicate with her, not me. If they decide she is telling the truth they will offer her a courtesy refund and I will be notified once they make the decision and refund her.

The representative seemed just as confused as I was about the buyer accusing me of not sealing the package although in the photos the package was sealed but was torn on the back. But another photo showed the bag unsealed. She never commented about the bag being torn.

Well ebay representatives seem to disagree with you on this.

Sounds exactly like how they handled my last INR case. EBay worked with the buyer after they filed SNAD and left me out of it.

I hope you are done with this one and eBay takes care of their buyer as they see fit.

If eBay refunds her then she can have $30 to play with when she hits the next seller.

I was told by ebay to do nothing. They want to deal directly with the buyer. They want her to contact her post office, USPS, possibly file a police report (which seems a bit extreme to me), then they will decide if they think she is telling the truth. If that's the case they are going to offer her a courtesy refund and release my funds back to me. If she doesn't cooperate with ebay they are going to close the case with no refund to her and release my funds back to me.
