20% Discount Fee for Basic Store Owners Being Cut to 10%!!!

I am a basic store subscriber.  I did that to receive the 20% discount on monthly fees.  Only way an individual seller can make a $$.  Since joining as a basic store owner, membership went from $15.95 yrly, to $19.95.  Now my 20% monthly discount fee is being cut from 20% to 10%.   Also, I offer free shipping at least 90% of the time with a 1 business day shipping time.  Because that is what I have to do to get discounted fees.  Now I have to free ship 95% of the time to stay with the program.  I'm not a business.  Just trying to make a couple bucks for added income.  When will you give sellers a positive break??  Not a snow balls chance in hell from what I see!  Very discouraged!

As labs118 stated, you don't need a store to get the 20% (soon 10%) TRS+ discount. You also don't have to offer free shipping.

And consider this: your average sale looks to be around $35, so the reduction from 20% to 10% costs you 35 cents on a sale. Are you claiming you'll no longer by profitable because the fee goes up 35 cents? With your average of 50 sales per month, that's an extra $17.50 on $1,750 in sales.

@thatsallfolks  Hi there. The reduction is $3.50 not 35 cents.  10% of $35 is $3.50.  And with $1,750 in sales they are losing $175. from the drop of 20% to 10%.

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

@klassic*kids

Sorry, no. The discount is currently 20% off of eBay's 10% FVF. On $1750 in sales, the full FVF is $175; a seller who gets the 20% discount would only pay $140 ($1750 * .08). When the discount is reduced to 10%, they will pay $157.50 ($1750 * .09), or an extra $17.50.

Re: 20% Discount Fee for Basic Store Owners Being Cut to 10%!!!

This sucks on so many levels. My ebay bill is about 900 a month now it will go to over 1000. This is suppossed to help the sellers ? What a pile. We Top rated sellers do a lot to make ebay a safe and friendly place for people to buy and ebay just does not care. I have been selling on ebay for almost 20 years and this is the biggest screw job ebay ever pulled.

It's to help fund the $30 promotional listings credit for TRS.

Re: 20% Discount Fee for Basic Store Owners Being Cut to 10%!!!

I agree with the OP and this post. It makes NO sense at all for ebay to take away profits from their Top Rated Sellers. If anything, Ebay should give a bit more to top rated sellers and a bit less to the worst sellers. It's highly unusual for a company to make rule changes that negatively affect it's best workers. The best workers should either get a raise or have their wages or in this case; fee structure; left alone. Ebay's upper management clearly is not very good; at least in the management who handles fee structure. If they knew what they were doing they would not have to make changes every year and would never lower the pay of their best workers.

Also, I'm amazed at all the people who disagree with the OP by somehow saying it's perfectly fine for TRS to be negatively affected by rule changes. It's not and it forces them and other sellers to raise prices, which drives away buyers. That's just not how good businesses are run

This doesn't even make the top ten.
