An item sold on June 1 and the payment is pending because the Buyer is attempting to use an echeck ... the PayPal transaction advises that it should be completed by June 19th ... I seem to recall 3-5 days was the normal time period for echecks to clear?!?

My guess is then that you have to call PayPal to cancel it and I really wouldn't hesitate to do that since you are now well over 20 days.
I heard from the Buyer today, they apologized for the length of time it was taking ... I'll let it ride and see what happens.
Honestly since you finally had your buyer's attention, you should have asked them to cancel and resubmit. Clearly there is a significant issue with this echeck. In all my years here I have never had one take 20+ days to clear.
Thanks and I appreciate that but I suspect that they with their (0) FB count might make a mistake and cost me another 20 days LOL! Patience is a virtue @mam98031

Thanks for showing those screens. That is a change I wasn't aware of. (and don't like!)

You bet, any time. It forces a call OR the use of their Chat feature. I recently used it and it was great, real time saver.

How? They can only cost you more time if you allow them to cost you more time. Even now you could file a UID if you wanted to and end this by this time next week. There is no way I would allow this to drag out this long no matter how much I wanted the sale.

In the past i have had a couple of E-checks take much longer than they should and after discussing things with Paypal, found out that the issue was with either the ACH clearing house or even the buyers bank being slow to deal with the ACH transactions. I had to issue a refund to a buyer after they cancelled their transaction, but unfortunately Ebay had billed their fees for both accounts and so I no longer had the $350+ in my Paypal Account to cover the refund. This wound up causing the buyer to get an Echeck from me which for whatever reason was taking way to long to clear. I contacted Paypal about it because it was nearing month end and the amount still had not cleared and i was going to wind up having to pay the Ebay fees on that sale and then get my credit the next month which I was not at all happy about. They dug deep into the situation and for whatever reason the ACH clearing house was backed up, so processing was taking up to 15 days.
Hope this helps a little with the situation.

As always, thanks for that post and yes, it does help ... I think you are absolutely right that a lot depends on the financial institute processing the transaction ... had the Buyer not gotten back to me I might pursue trying to get it resolved with a cancellation sooner but since they messaged me AND the fact that this is their first transaction I am choosing to be patient and work through it with them ... if it fails after the period indicated I will make a decision then, but for now I can just forget it ...

I work on "monthly" sales so if this sale started on the 2nd and finishes on the 19th it simply becomes another June sale. The other thing in play here is this is a (0) FB Buyer, its their first transaction and I will do my part to make it positive for them ... another approach might turn them off to the site and thus the venue loses a potentially good Buyer. While I respect your opinion, for myself I would not pursue it that way, you can certainly pursue one like this your way with no criticism from me, its your business not mine.

Well that is good news. But how did it clear on day 12 when your thread started off on day 19? Just curious. Do you mean 12 business days maybe?

Mr Lincoln said in the original post that Paypal estimated June 19 to clear. It cleared sooner than that.
