10 Auctions...Opinions Please

What is everybody's take on the 10 Auctions?

I have no opinion one way or the other.

Is it a good thing?

Is it a bad thing?

Please give me your 2 cents so I can further see if the 10 day Auctions have merit for me.

Regards

10 Auctions...Opinions Please

@namtrag1 Auctions on their own have lost interest with many buyers. People are used to getting what they want when they want it. To have to wait for an auction to end isn't convenient these days. People are willing to pay slightly higher just to get the item needed in the time frame they expect, and not be concerned with losing to a last minute bid. Using 10 day auctions simply elongates an already current issue, as you are making your buyers wait an additional three days.

You should already know how much you want to sell your item for. Make that your listing price and use fixed listing if you really want to sell quickly. If you are willing to wait and see if you can get slightly better prices, than go for a 7 day auction, but no more than that. Depends on how much time you plan on devoting to selling your item. Best of luck to you....

auctions good for collectibles I have been doing 7 days auctions for years but then I have an audience. No audience means you better be prepared to only have one bidder and sell at your start price. Down side with auctions many members reported buyers don't pay when they win.

If you want the fast money, go for Fixed Price/Immediate Payment Required.

Your item will list for free , stay visible for 30 days, and the buyer will pay immediately. If it doesn't sell, it will automatically relist again for free.

If you want to haggle, you can add Best Offer to a Fixed Price listing. You can reduce the haggling by setting high/low parameters for acceptable prices

  • Note that if you accept a Best Offer, Immediate Payment no longer applies.

Or you can use Auctions, which are now only about 15% of listings, because buyers don't care for them, and add either Buy It Now (which disappears with the first bid) or Best Offer (which with Auctions should be a higher price than the opening) .

  • Note that there are 10 times as many Unpaid Items with Auctions as with Fixed Price.

Auctions are useless for mass manufactured items, even used ones. Even For Parts Only. On those set your price. Collectibles do have an Auction following, but if you have no response to Auctions, relist as Fixed Price, especially if you have Views. (Watchers watch. Viewers are more likely to buy.)
