I've been selling on eBay for a few years now, but my hubby and I have only started getting serious about it lately and I've been checking out our Seller Level. I've noticed that the transaction period has gone from being just 1/4 of the year (just 3 months) to now be a full 12 month period. We've been hit hard lately with the pandemic slowing down our postal service here in Australia and it's seen a steep rise in our usual fairly clean record, but these 3 or 4 defects will cost us dearly if now spread over a 12 month period instead of just 3 months. Our impressions have dropped by over 90% and it's put an enormous dent in our sales. Has anyone else noticed this change to the transaction period calculations? I tried chatting eBay support about it, but they just said to keep doing all the right things that we're doing, but were unable to offer any other info about the transaction period calculations. Since eBay had me update my payout preference to my bank account, I've had 3 sales. Typically, the fee is 10%. I'm being charged more now since updating my payout preference. Below are what items sold for and what I received after fees.   Item 1 sold for $8, I received $6.64 Item 2 sold for $20, I received $17.05 Item 3 sold for $70, I received $60.58   This is more than 10% from each sale when eBay stated this would help make more by eliminating Paypal's fee. Gonna have to make the switch to managed payments.  When I list an item will I be asked how I want to get paid? Up until now I was checking the PayPal button, as that was the only way I accepted payment.  So what will happen when I'm signed up to managed payment?  Will there be a button/circle for managed payments?  I'll still only want one form of payment. ... I just returned to selling on eBay after being away for several years. I always use auctions to sell my items (high end posters).  When listing for the first time, I noticed that eBay is trying to convince sellers like me to allow buyers to "make an offer" which is crazy on auction items. I start my items at the lowest possible price I will accept so why would I consider accepting offers that are even lower? My problem is that, when the items re-list, eBay is automatically giving buyers the option to "make an offer" even though I indicated when I first listed the items that I would not accept offers. I manually changed several dozen listings but have finally just started de-listing items that are relisted with "make an offer" options -- I refuse to allow eBay to undercut my  auctions. Is there any way to stop eBay from disregarding my wish not to accept offers on relisted items? If not, I'm going to be leaving eBay again. Thanks. ... View more

Hello everyone,    The other day, I talked to eBay representatives. I found out that eBay takes its 10% commission off of the buyer's final price that includes the shipping fee (example: the item is 10$ + 4$ shipping = $14, eBay takes 10% from the 14$ while the seller made $10. Secondly, if you partially refund a buyer, eBay doesn't share your loss. eBay pays back its cut only it is a full refund.   I want to know if everyone is aware of these policies and how you deal with their unfairness?     Looking forward to hearing from you!    Aisha         ... Buyer paid right away for their purchase, shipping cost was separate, I shipped right away.  Unopened package was returned to me within a week with USPS sticker stating RETURN TO SENDER, REFUSED, UNABLE TO FORWARD.  Tracking history does not have any additional information.  One corner of the box has a small tear but the item inside is still safe and sound.  Buyer did not contact me about any of this, and has not initiated any case with eBay.   I don't offer free returns.  I would like to refund the buyer now for the price of the item only, and not the cost of initial shipping.  Can I do this in eBay without the Buyer opening a case first?  After I refund the price of the item, what happens if Buyer opens a case with either eBay or Paypal for the initial shipping cost? someone left me a negative feedback in another language with an angry emoji. Translation is I do not like this bag I am upset. I've reached out a few times to see what exactly the problem was and have not received any communication at all as to why they don't like their purchase. Sent message to eBay and the response I got was that they will not remove the feedback because the buyer is allowed to say what they want basically. Explain to me how someone can leave a bad feedback without ever at least trying to make it right. With no communication at all.   I could go and buy something and then for the heck of it send a negative feedback like- I hate this item -for absolutely no reason and that is okay? My item sold on the 15th and no payment has shown in my account as of yet. I messaged buyer who said they have already paid. Item says “paid - dispatch now” but when I click on check payment status it says payment is “processing”? I’m probably being extra cautious as the buyer has 0 feedback - positive or negative. It also says I must dispatch by tomorrow but I feel uncomfortable sending an item I haven’t received payment for. I have only sold two other things since eBay moved away from PayPal and the payments for both went straight into my account. They were however both buy it now items and the item which sold on the 15th was auction so I don’t know if this effects payment. Any advice on what steps to take next is appreciated. TIA.  ... I had a buyer wanting to return an item because it didn't arrive when the carrier (USPS) estimated it would. Keep in mind this was a 2020 holiday shipment, I sent the package out the day after payment (my handling time is 2 days), & my store policy is no refunds.    The buyer got around my store policy by claiming that the product "doesn't match description or photos" & commented that the "Item arrived almost a week after it was scheduled to arrive."   I am not sure how USPS shipping estimates are part of my product description? I tried contacting eBay with no avail; they just told me to work it out with the buyer & that they would step in this coming week if we couldn't come to a compromise.    Should I be compromising with this buyer, who I feel is abusing the "doesn't match description of photos" or will eBay just tell me that I will have to refund the item due to a shipping delay that is out of my control? Happy New Year everyone.   I wanted to write my horrible experience with a buyer for informational purposes because someone else like me might experience. And I hope I get some tips or ideas from you. A few months ago I sold a designer bag I had barely used great condition but I have may black bags and since I never almost used it preferred the money and someone else can get use out of it.   Although it is a popular model and I had many watchers and offers I received I wanted to hold firm and not accept a lower offer from multiple ones I got.  However near thanksgiving I received an offer with a personal message from a woman saying she has wanted that bag for a long time and she would use all her Christmas present to get it and more. Stupid me I thought I should accept the offer of -150$ because It would mean so much to them. Anyway the item was shipped and received (FIY I have a no return policy and I told the buyer and asked if they wanted any extra photos or info about it and they said they have been looking at the photos for a year and they really want it.) When the buyer received the bag they send me a message saying thank you it is in great condition but know the size is smaller but I love my purchase.   I was surprised she said that about the size but didn't pay too much attention to her message because she said she was very happy with it.  3-4 days letter they said since the size is wrong if I were willing to give them a partial refund of 400-500$. Keep in mind the bag was sold for 1200 and was listed 1350.  Anyway I responded how I was surprised by that since they liked the item and requested a photo of the bag with a measuring tape. She said Ill do that on Monday (it was Friday) that I will be at my friends house that has the bigger size. I responded that I only wanted the bag I sold them photos off and Monday is fine. 2.5 weeks go by and finally she send me photos with her friends bag and my bag that she visited out of state. Both bags the same color and no distinct marks visible to actually distinguish my bag.  At this point I knew something was wrong with them. I contacted eBay and they advised me that I have no return and I shouldn't worry about it it is buyers remorse.  However to save me some time and drama I explain to the buyer that I can't give such a steep refund I could offer 150-200 and I said if she hadn't said how much she liked it I would have accepted a return but not after weeks and the item was used.  She wasn't happy with the amount and opened a return request and eBay told me again I don't need to accept the return it is buyers remorse and I have no return policy. I think actually eBay closed it on their end also after I declined.   Then around Christmas time more than a month later the buyer opens a claim with their bank that they never did the charge on their card.  "Unauthorized transaction We’re reviewing your case and will get back to you soon. The buyer reported that someone made the order without their permission."   Needless to say that ruined my Christmas my account had a negative balance and I shocked since I had never experienced such a thing. Called PayPal and long story short I uploaded all documentation of the whole thing and said I am covered from buyers protection not to worry and PayPal will figure it out with their bank. And resolved my negative balance that took some days and at that point I shut down my store because of the balance and the crazy Christmas shipping delays that caused issues as well. That buyer is trying to commit clear fraud with their bank claiming they didn't do the purchase tried to get a huge partial refund claiming it was an inch smaller and when all filled they used the bag for a good 3 weeks and wanted to return it.   Now 2 months later they opened a request for the customer service  to review the case for a final decision.  An eBay representative assured me even guaranteed it is just a formality and the case will be closed on my favor and not worry and how sorry she is for the whole situation. Also I can't in any way accept a return now that I know that they are scammers because most likely they will send a replica if anything.    I have read mixed things on the community and other pages and I am wondering if I have a case for a lawsuit or report them to the local police. I had a customer post blatantly false information in there feedback. They said there package was never recieved, even though I have tracking information to prove that it did. Then I submitted a feedback removal query to Ebay on grounds of false information and they denied it. On top of this the buyer submitted a return request, proving that they did receive the package. I have two items that just sold which I noted as shipping via USPS parcel. However, the orders came in with a request that I ship via USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelope. They won't fit in a Flat Rate Envelope.  Is there a way to print a label for the items as a USPS package? Was just forced like everyone to sign up for managed payments. Yesterday Jan. 12 Ebay deducted .30 from my bank account. There is a .30 charge in my transactions which appears to be for cancelling a buyers order on Jan. 9. Since I can't get ANY seller support of any kind, does anyone know what this is? So, I've opted into the GSP almost from the beginning, on nearly all my items.  But out of my 1200 or so sales (of a wide variety of items, leaning vintage/collectible but really I'll sell anything I can source cheap), I've had only ONE international sale.  I remember I had to ship it to Kentucky where my nearest Ebay hub was, and it was just that one time.  I'm always seeing sellers talk about how you shouldn't resist doing the GSP because foreign sales aren't as risky as people think, a huge portion of their sales are international, why not cast your net wide? etc.  I'm thinking YEAH sounds great, so why does my wide net not catch foreign fishies?  By the way, no, those sellers weren't in vastly different categories from me.  So what could it be? ... I sold an item for $20 ($11.85 item, $8.15 shipping) for a clothing item. The transaction details deducted a fee of $3.01. However when I looked under customer service -> selling fees -> and the specific order fee details, it says I wasn't charged insertion fees, final value fees, or promotion/credit fees. I'm a little unsure of where the deduction came from. I'm aware that ebay usually takes a 10% final value fee, and I also made sure when I listed the item to avoid any insertion fees. But 10% of 20 is not $3; where did that extra $1 charge come from? I would like to know so I can adjust my future items for sale accordingly and to be in the black, not red! Thank you in advance. ... Hello. So I'm in the process of making quite a big order from a large online retailer (which I buy from quite often), I messaged the seller before I made an offer on an item which was selling out fast that I couldn't pay until a certain date due a term deposit I have maturing on that date.  They said it was all good and not to worry, and further forward in time I added more items to the invoice. The issue is on this one particular item, I guess the eBay automatic assistant  has opened an unpaid item case, and they said they are unable to close it, is there any walk around or do I just have to take the bullet? I recently switched over to Managed Payments. I sold an item and printed a label before the funds went into my Available Balance pool (still "processing") so I have a -#3.00 balance.
