This is not at all a silly question. I upgraded my VERY old router and added a new service provider, and some of the devices and programs communicating through the router (like a printer and like my desktop email) had to be set differently to work again.
Your web browsing activity, like accessing eBay, should function normally, but you will probably be notified by email that eBay has detected a new device using your account. Since you know you have a new router and possibly a new internet address on your router, you can ignore the message at this time.
