file exchange Could not invoke the HTTP client Socket read from fileex30.vip.ebay.com failed without

My wife and I have been communicating with Half.com for over 3 months now. I've written letters to the president, senior management, board of directors...

We went on vacation and my wife put her account (half.com) on vacation hold. When she came back, she took the account OFF VACATION. When she went in to review one of her hundreds of items for sale, she saw an error message that said "This item is no longer available". We wrote letters, sent in support requests and finally got a response that told us that a lot of people are having this problem (that's comforting)...

We were told to download her inventory and then upload. I tried it about 10 times and the upload would always fail. Finally I figured out the file we were uploading was missing the ACTION field. After reading in the guide that this field was required, I inserted a column, put ACTION in the header (row 1) and populated the 700 plus cells with "Add".

Now, I keep getting the error message above.

The upload date is today: July 20th, 2017

The reference number is: 828421549

Number of requested actions is: 783

Please - this is ruining my marraige! Can you help me?

@wjlawrence01 - Thank you for posting your Half.com/File Exchange concerns on this Community Board thread.

I'm sorry that you have been experiencing some difficulties in getting your purchase on sale. The file that you uploaded to eBay File Exchange is invalid for eBay. It's not properly set up to upload to eBay since it's a Half.com file. This is due to File Exchange being different. The file format is invalid to activate the listing. You would need to create new listings on eBay using the limited information you have from the file that you downloaded to completely fill out a valid eBay File Exchange file.

As you may know, Half.com site will be retiring at the end of August. Communication was sent out around July 16th to all Half.com sellers.

If you were looking to follow the information about moving your listings from Half.com to eBay, please follow these necessary steps, for they will be different than listing on Half.com:

1. Download your "Half.com Inventory" from File Exchange. *Which you have done.*

- Being that each site is different, you'll only be able to use certain information in the file that you downloaded to input into an eBay File Exchange file. Half.com only required limited information, while eBay requires specific listing details to provide to potential buyers such as Shipping, Payment options, and Returns.

- Once you have the file, you can copy over your Product details and fill out our eBay File Exchange file, using your ISBN information. You can also use the file for price and quantity to also fill out the file.

2. Download an File Exchange template to create new listings to upload and activate your product on eBay by selecting the "Item Specifics by Category" template for Books, CDs, or DVDs.

eBay File Exchange user guide: https://ir.ebaystatic.com/pictures/aw/pics/pdf/us/file_exchange/File_Exchange_Advanced_Instructions....

The files are similar, but different in ways that eBay requires more information about your product.

If the eBay File Exchange doesn't provide you with details that is easy to understand on how to fill out the eBay File Exchange file, please feel free to give us a call. We'll be happy to provide you with further information on how to start selling your Half.com product directly on eBay.

If my information I have provided here is different than what was given to you by a Half.com support rep, please feel free to reach back out to Half.com to get further clarification on the process after you downloaded the Half.com Inventory file from eBay.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

mykal@ebay
