But then it doesn't show up in the actual listing? Is it removing something in the process?

First of all, do not copy content from other websites unless you have permission to do so, since you may find yourself violating US copyright law.
When copying content from your own website (or when using content provided by a supplier), the HTML itself may contain styles that affect the appearance of the content, and when the stylesheets from elsewhere on the webpage are not also brought over (or if there are scripts that are filtered out), the result may be a different appearance entirely. Thus, don't assume that your webpage will display correctly on eBay.
Additionally, if copying an entire webpage, the styles and scripts may appear in the eBay preview, but when the listing is posted, that part of the "webpage" that contains the scripts and stylesheets is left behind. That is the nature of eBay's description editor which keeps only the BODY element and not the HEAD element of a webpage.
There are workarounds to this. While scripts are not allowed at all, the stylesheets will pass through if correctly added to the BODY element (using the advanced listing form, not to the Quick listing form).
I would need an example to offer guidance.

You really should be doing your own descriptions and not coping them from Amazon.
