Uploading CSV with smart headers: syntax questions

Hi Friends.

I'm about to use smart headers in my CSV upload for the first time and I have a few questions. Rather than wait to see what errors I get and troubleshoot, I thought I'd see if anyone could answer about these little syntax questions aead of time so I can do them right from the start:

1) My business policies have spaces and special characters (specifically *) in their names. They work fine when used in CSV listings and duplicated in every field, but will I have trouble with either in smart headers?

2) I assume, despite the ambiguous way it's presented in the File Exchange documentation that I should not be putting my whole smart header in quotes. So it should be:

Category=123

not

"Category=123"

Right?

3) If there are quotes in my text strings (description, for example), do I need to escape them? Using more quotes?

4) Is it still ok to use <br> and <p> for line breaks etc. in smart headers?

I think that's it for now.

Thanks!

Hi @cordeliaflyte

In answer to your questions:

1) I don't expect that you will have any trouble with smart headers. They can be used for just about any field other than Action.

2) Do not put quotation marks around smart headers.

3) You should not need to escape quotation marks in smart headers.

4) You can use HTML tags such as <br> and <p> in smart headers. HTML can only be used the item description, not in other fields.
