Seller Hub: Updating a Listing with Variations Using a Template/Spreadsheet

I have an existing listing with variations, and I have a spreadsheet with data having new variations and their prices.  I'm wondering if it is possible to update an existing item to add new variations to the existing variations?  My variations are simple with just one variation per item (no combinations).

Specific questions:
1) Do I need to list the current variations when I upload the cvs file?

2) What is the character limit for variations (50?)

3) I assume that the Action should be "Revise"?

Thank you, any help much appreciated, really dreading doing it manually.

To revise a variation with a spreadsheet, the "RelationshipDetails" in the master record must contain a list of all variation options (existing and new). This tool can help with that extraction.

You can also retrieve a report that includes your variations by downloading a Price and Quantity template from Seller Hub > Reports > Uploads

https://www.ebay.com/sh/reports/uploads

Then you can add a single row for each new variation option, as shown below.  The grid below contains all the columns necessary for adding a new option to your variation list:

ActionItemIDRelationshipRelationshipDetailsQuantityStartPrice
Revise385411800173 Sizes=Small;Medium;Large
  VariationSizes=Large220

This tool can help build the new list for RelationshipDetails (bottom tool)

The listing tool will allow only 50 characters for an option.

The CSV uploader will allow 65 characters for an option.

But the display on the listing itself shows only 32 characters (or the first 30 characters and two dots when truncating), and there is no way to see beyond the truncation. I've been frustrated looking at some listings where critical info was lopped off, displayed as dots.

I see that you have a photo for each variation. After uploading your spreadsheet revision without photos, manually revise your listing to upload photos through the listing tool.

Thanks, that was helpful.  I was missing that the master record has to have all of the OLD + NEW variations, then the variation rows below can have the new items only to add.  Once I fixed that, I tried again, and it worked like a charm.  Much less painful to manually update the photos than to manually add the variants.  I think the full thing shows up in the email invoices etc. generated, so nice to have the full 65 characters, 15 extra compared to the web interface!!!
