I recently had a seller open a claim in the resoution center app. stating the product I sold him was a fake. To cut to the chase, after speaking with a rep. I learned that the resolution app., if ebay is asked to step in, makes a decision in the buyer's favor without looking at any other details. The rep. confirmed that no real person applies logic to the claim (in this case the buyer did not read the listing in its entirety and did not ask me any questions before bidding), a coputer makes a decision that is biased toward the buyer making the claim. Does that seem right to you? When on the phone with the rep. I came to the conclusion that as a buyer he is off the hook and he was the negligent one. He purchased something without looking into the product and without asking the seller any questions and now his mistake costs me and ebay time.
Should I report him as a buyer? I feel like this is going to end nowhere.
Should I appeal and force ebay to look at the facts?
What would you do?

I would do a "return for full refund", and avoid getting eBay involved. Not only will they almost certainly decide in the buyer's favor, your account will be given a very damaging defect for not handling it yourself.
Why does the buyer think the product is a fake? What questions should he have asked?

We need to get back that ability to state our terms. Don't like it? I take returns, just ship it back for a full refund.
eBay got in the middle of something that worked and ruined it.
