This morning when I looked at the "edit promoted listing" option for every item I checked the recommended rate had at least doubled from what the recommended rate was when I updated 2 days ago. Does anyone know what is going on with promoted listings?
It reminds me of an experience I had at Christmas. I wanted to buy my grandson a hotwheels dinosaur garage thing. It was $99 at Macys, I wanted to compare prices so looked it up on Amazon. What took up 1/4 page on Amazon was one identical to Macys $99 item, listed for over $300. I realized that it was due to promotional listing, but for the unsuspecting customer, it appears that Amazon endorses that item, it must be good, and customer purchases it. That seller could promote for more than 50% and still make more than Macys. Is that what ebay is coming to? Is that the solution, gauge a customer, so ebay makes more?

If you are using Automate suggested ad rates rate PL your % will increase. When I used PL I used fixed ad rate it never changed.
If you want to change it go to the Marketing tab Click Advertizing Dashboard then click edit to the campaign you want to edit.

Ebays suggested rates have no real bearing in truth- they are simply "made up" / perhaps monitored and changed to accommodate when ebay needs to show more on the books.....
Until sellers finally stand up and refuse to use promoted listings- the abuse will continue and the search results will keep declining - Pay to Play is a bad idea for all parties involved EXCEPT ebay- they do nothing and continue to skim profits from sellers without providing a service.... They must have intentionally degraed the relevancy of the search and the told sellers to pay PL to get results....... now everything is promoted and its the exact same issue- id everybody promotes= TECHNICALLY NOBODY IS PROMOTED- but ebay is making a huge take on all the fees- its just a scam
