I figured I would give promoted listings a good try. I have used it before but for some reason it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because the lack of real data is just terrible. After doing a few I started to pay very close attention to things and this is what I have noticed.
I was at 34,996 impressions then two minutes later it reverted to 34, 689 listings. Obviously false data or glitch.
I also noticed I was at 502 clicks and fifteen minutes later my phone registers a sale. I go look and the clicks were still at 502 and stayed that way for 10 minutes or so. I checked the listing and there was a view for that item coinsiding with the sale.
At the begining of this campaign I had an item that had 3 more clicks than it had view as seen by dowloading the report into excel.
It is quite clear the data provided is useless to have any clue as to what is going on. At best it suggest fowl play. I have once again gotton a bad taste in my mouth and I feel I cannot trust using promoted listings.
I have noticed it picks and chooses what will get more impressions and can send items up and down the ladder even if it is the cheapest one. My metrics are fine with top rated and seller does returns.
Either way promoted listings are not trusted in my book and cannot provide accurate data nor can you compile any data. For a company that wants to push promoted listings the Ice Cream Sundae comes without syrup or whipped cream and just might be frozen yogurt.
