Modifying Variation Specific Names

Hello,

I have an issue that i need to fix, and i was wondering if there's any tools out there that could adjust the names of variations. Like i currently have a variation that is called "Size (Men's)" that'll like to adjust to "Size (Women's)" - I currently am adjusting them manually but that'll take me over a week.

Is there anything that'll make this easier? It's a bit annoying having to delete the variation, and making a new one and adjusting all prices/images/etc.

Any help is helpful, thank you.

To answer your question:

3) or, Make up a list of a thousand item numbers. Select *FILE EXCH CSV at the bottom of the tool's Site list, and paste your list into the new box that opens. Your list should have a heading and be arranged like this:

ItemID

123456789012

234567890123

345678901234

The eBay Site list is at the top of the Variation Scanner, under Seller Name. Scroll to the bottom of the Site list and select FILE EXCH CSV.  A new box will open at the top of the screen where you can enter your list of numbers. Be sure the list has the header ItemID, as shown above. Start the scan by clicking the "Use CSV List" button.

HOWEVER, if you have them all under the correct category, then don't use the FILE EXCH CSV option. Instead, take the easy route and enter your eBay category in the Category list at the top of the tool. Choose "Selection" and add your category number in the "Include" list.  Make sure your Site selection is US and click the "Get Items" button to start the scan.

For your first run, I would recommend also entering a single item number in the Keyword Search field at the top of the tool to fetch only a single listing. Process that single listing to get a feel for the tool and for eBay's uploader. Then go with the entire batch.

HERE IS A SAMPLE TO TRY:

  1. Here is a link with all the options preloaded for a single listing.
  2. When the scan finishes, and the report populates, click the "Download Report" button directly under the report.
  3. Go to Seller Hub > Reports > Uploads  and submit your saved file.
  4. After eBay finishes processing the report, you will see it in the list on that page as completed and there will be an option to download the results report from eBay that will show any errors. Errors might occur if the listing has ended or if your listing has other mandates that have not yet been met, or if the file became corrupted after downloading from the tool. There might also be warnings or advisories, which won't affect the revision.
  5. Wait a minute and check your listing to see if it is updated.

I set this report as a "tab-delimited" format because that makes it easier to view onscreen and to copy and paste into a spreadsheet, AND, it displays the item number as a whole number if viewing the download while saving to your computer, thus preventing corruption. eBay accepts this format. But it makes it harder to open as a spreadsheet, and eBay's "Results" file is returned in the same format.

If you are handy with a spreadsheet, and know how to change the item number from scientific notation to a whole number with zero decimals (if the download is opened while saving), or if the download is saved without opening, then feel free to change the tool's report from tab-delimited to the standard comma-delimited format and rebuild the report before downloading.

After you complete your single revision end-to-end and check your listing, remove the item number in the Keyword Search field and run the scan for the other 900 items. Process them the same way in Seller Hub. When that list is completed and some minutes have passed, return to the scan tool and rerun the same scan, and the same report, to check for stragglers.

There may be some stragglers that were not revised on the first round. Try those again in seller hub and then be sure to look over eBay's Results report to see if there are any underlying eBay issues the blocked the revision request.

Renaming is a process of deleting the old and adding the new. This tool will bulk rename your variations and provide a spreadsheet that you can upload to eBay:

https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/VariationScanner.htm

The short instruction is that you would enter your seller name and eBay site, then click the button to load your 5000 variation listings.

I would recommend that you start with a single item number in the tool's keyword search field at the top and test this on a single listing first.

After the listings are loaded, use the report box below your grid of listings to choose the "rename" option. Enter the variation name you want to find, and the variation name you want to replace. Build the report and download the file. Go to Seller Hub > Reports > Uploads and upload that revision file to eBay.

I see that you have 5000 variation listings and over 100,000 variations. That's a lot to work with.

Do you need to change all listings, or some subset of listings?

If subsets, are you able to somehow group the specific listings that you want to change?

If you want only a subset to be renamed, below are some methods you might use:

1) Run the full report, paste into a spreadsheet, and remove the items you don't want to change.

2) or, Select up to 20 item numbers per scan and paste them into the keyword search in the tool like this:

(123456789012, 234567890123, 345678901234)

3) or, Make up a list of a thousand item numbers. Select *FILE EXCH CSV at the bottom of the tool's site list, and paste your list into the new box that opens. Your list should have a heading and be arranged like this:

ItemID

123456789012

234567890123

345678901234

This third method won't pick up the title, category, or condition, so delete those blank columns from your spreadsheet before uploading to eBay.

Hey,

I've been busy all day today so i just got onto the computer now. I appreciate the long explanation. Yes, i do have a ton of listing but this what occurred... I had a couple thousand of shirts available for sell, and i decided to use the same design to list online but instead of just shirts.. it'll be also women shirts/longsleeves/hoodies. Upon making my listing for women department... i didn't notice that the women shirt had the "size (Men's)" I thought it was just "Size" With this occurring.. i kept making listing and someone brought it to my attention about that issue.

I actually have like 5k more listing to upload but i need to fix this 1k listing that has this issue.

I am currently using the website you referred but i believe i wouldn't be able to benefit with it because it ask for keywords search and all of them have the exact keyword. Once it finishes searching and i could download and check it out i'll see if it works for me.

Regardless, thank you for the help.

If you can't find your 1000 erroneous listings with a keyword search, then perhaps they are all grouped as your most recent listings. It might be best if you can collect all the item numbers and use those to feed into the tool using the FILE EXCH CSV method.

I attempted to look around the website, and as well on the program but i don't see an option to input just the item numbers. I have them categories on my listing so i can easily copy each number but i don't see the option on that website.

Maybe i am looking at the wrong spot?

I'm happy the tool could provide the assistance you needed.

Variations are complex in nature and no one should be stuck with manually editing a ton of them.
