Item description summary: "..vocab="http://schema.org/" typeof="Product".." doesn't work

I am struggling these days for making this mobile feature work. I have just followed the line guides that ebay was providing in order to optimise listings on mobile screen.

As I read from previous posts, I am adding only plain text within the related 'div', as in the example below:

<div vocab="http://schema.org/" typeof="Product">
<span property="description">
	This paragraph contains almost 800 characters of text to be displayed in the mobile item description.
	And the text in this paragraph through this sentence contains 250 characters, which is the amount we
	will display without any actions on your part. When you tag a paragraph with these HTML breaks, the
	content will be displayed to shoppers looking at your item. This will allow the shopper to see the
	key information you want to display, without them having to click through to the complete description.
	If your complete description is 800 characters or less and uses basic HTML we will display the entire
	description without any action on your behalf – so the best practice is to keep it within 800 characters.
	If you have a long description, make it easy for your buyers by using this option.
</span>
</div>

Does anybody knows if in 2022 this feature still works and can you share any best practice in order to let selected description appear?

Anybody knows how long it will take in order to appear ?

Thanks for the help

I don't think it works very well anymore. For one thing, if you use the Quick Lister (for new sellers) or the new Unified Lister (for both new and seasoned sellers), the identifying attributes are stripped out by the description editing tool. This means the code can only be used in the much older Business Lister. (I don't know whether it is supported by the mobile app.) Sellers who use the Business Lister and who are not careful how they edit the mobile summary, will also break the codes. Taking advantage of the spreadsheet uploader in Seller Hub would preserve the coding and may be the last resort for sellers if eBay retires the old Business Lister.

I don't know if you can still get to the Business Lister. Look at the top of your listing tool to see if you can switch. If not, you may need to post your listing and then revise the description with a spreadsheet.

I used the Business Lister to edit an existing listing. The Mobile Summary was added to the HTML view of the description editor and saved. I kept the summary very plain, without any other HTML. About 3 minutes after the revision was posted, the summary appeared in the listing. So it still works in the Business Lister. Every time you revise a listing, eBay will check again for the mobile summary, but it will take a few minutes to appear, so be patient.

You can test your listing's mobile summary here:

https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/MobileSummaryEditor.htm

I kept reloading the item number every minute or so until the summary finally appeared in the top window.

You can see my test in this listing:

384246160597

And in these older listings:

224217770084

222687460629

Actually, I'm a little confused. If you don't mind, can you show it with a photo or video?

Which part needs more help?

Are you aware of the different listing tools?

  1. Mobile App (for Android or iOS).
  2. Quick Lister (for beginners).
  3. Business Lister (for experienced sellers).
  4. New Unified Lister (to replace Quick and Business, and to look more like mobile).
  5. Spreadsheet upload (to bulk upload or edit listings via CSV files).

As a new seller, I think you may be using the Quick Lister. A mobile summary can not be added on the Quick Lister because the description box erases the codes. At the very top of the Quick listing tool is the option to "Switch to business tool". The business listing tool will accept a mobile summary.  Is this what you see?
