I can not change my account type to the Business from Individual !

@mtgraves7984

The "Business" or "Individual" is found under the "Business Info" or "Personal Info" of your account profile:

https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile

@meta-future-ltd

A seller can convert from Individual to Business, but can not revert back from business to Individual.

Well, you've gotten farther than I have. I went to check out my own account and don't even find a reference to 'Business' or 'Individual'. Hopefully, a poster will happen by that can give you 'hands-on' experience. Good luck.

There's no edit button link next to Account Type?

https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile

Are you using the app or the site?

Have a great day.

As long as we are on the subject, I have no idea which I have set.  What are the differences, advantages, etc, of one or the other?

Edit: OK I checked and I have an Individual account.  Still wonder about the differences.

I see that you are in the UK.  The UK help page (just like the US help page) indicates that a private seller account can be converted to a business account. It does not state that a business account can be made personal.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/account/signing-ebay-account/signing-ebay-account?id=4191

I have several business and personal accounts, and the business accounts are all missing the option to convert to personal.

If you need a personal account because your bank account is not a business account, you will need to open a business bank account or open a new eBay account.

Alternatively, you can ask customer service if there is anything they can do to modify your account.  Use the link at the bottom of the help page above.  If you land in robochat, type "agent" in the chat box to converse with a human.

I'm right there with you. My Account Settings page begins with 'Personal Info'. What are the differences, @shipscript?

Yeah I didn't see anything that tells the differences.  Hopefully someone will provide a link.

There used to be no difference whatsoever on the US site. I've changed back and forth on a whim in the past.  The UK sellers who registered as a business were required by UK law to provide contact information in the listing, so they have seen a difference for years. Sellers who acquired goods for sale, as opposed to clearing out their closets, were deemed business accounts in the UK.

With managed payments, things are now different.  US sellers can no longer switch back and forth on a whim because the type of entity is now pertinent to payments. With a business account, the seller must be a registered business entity and must provide ownership information about the entity, which might also have a formal business name that differs from the personal name that operates the business.  Sellers who are not government-registered businesses, would operate a personal account (using Sched-C on their income tax return to state there personal "business" income) and would provide their personal contact info for tax purposes. The seller bank account must also match the type of eBay seller account.

"If you're a Registered Business seller, (Company – LTD/Unltd, LP, LLP, Sole proprietor/Single member LLC, Corporation/Multi member LLC, Partnership), select Create a business account on the eBay registration page. We'll ask for some additional details, like your business name, type, and address, as well as any beneficial owners, officers, directors, account managers. Make sure that your bank account type matches your eBay account type. For example, if you have a business bank account, make sure you register as a business seller. If you have a personal account, you can change it to a business account from your Account Settings."

Registration - Business vs PersonalRegistration - Business vs Personal

On my business accounts, I have had to update the corporate ownership information, including providing the business tax id. I was also required to provide the personal contact information of the primary business contact, and then link to the corporate bank account.

Thank you very much for the clarification.  I guess I am an Individual.

I assume that you will use Payoneer on the UK site because you are in Turkey, and eBay's money handling partner (Adyen) does not operate in Turkey.

With Payoneer, just like with PayPal, you would be required by the money handler to submit your personally identifying information and to link to a bank account. This "know your customer" (KYC) information is required by money processors in most countries.

The Payoneer site suggests it is easier to open a Payoneer account from the eBay registration process.  eBay would then collect your data and transmit it to Payoneer for setting up a matching Payoneer account.  If you already have a Payoneer account, it can be linked, but that seems to be more difficult as you will need to ensure your account information is the same across both sites.

https://www.payoneer.com/solutions/marketplaces-networks/ebay-payout/

I do see that Payoneer allows you to open either a business account or personal account. If you have already opened a personal account on Payoneer because you are not a registered business, you may need to open a new eBay account that is also not a business so that the two accounts match.
