FileExchange PicURL field - What to enter for "hosted by eBay Picture Services (EPS)."

For the FileExchange PicURL field, what do I enter for "hosted by eBay Picture Services (EPS)."?
Then, where do I upload my pictures?

Secondly, is it more dependable to use EPS hosting or use my own?

Thanks!

This is from page 84 of the FE Advanced Instructions:

URL of the picture to add to your listing. If a Gallery upgrade is specified (Plus or Featured), the image will be used for the search preview image. For best results, use an image that is in JPEG format and is at least 1000 pixels wide.

Pictures can be self-hosted, hosted by a third party, or hosted by eBay Picture Services (EPS). To add up to 12 pictures, separate the URL with a pipe " | " character.

Pictures for a listing can either self-hosted, or hosted by a third party, but not both. <<<<<<

Re: FileExchange PicURL field - What to enter for "hosted by eBay Picture Services (EPS)."

@shipscript and @dollybeauty - I'm sorry this is so long. I tried several edits but my file still fails with abandoned job. I have this saved in plain text, so I can put whatever I should, into a new topic. Please let me know.

I verified that "Add" without quotes is Initial Cap.

I used the FileExchangeDescriptionUtility for my description.

Failed import. No error codes. Abandoned job on line 2.

Changed C:Type from the pre-filled type field of Shirt/T-Shirt to Shirt
That didn't change anything.

One at a time, I removed the information from each field and typed it in a plain text editor and copied and pasted into the csv. I made sure there were no trailing spaces, line breaks, etc.

The format for the variations was taken from the advanced instructions manual page 33 for the colors. Format for sizes and for combinations (size and color together) were taken from pages 30 and 31.

Line 1 Relationship

Line 3 Variation

RelationshipDetails
Size=XS;SM;MD;LG;XL;2XL;3XL|Color=Red;Blue;Purple;Bright Pink;Black;Light Pink;Grey;Baby Blue;Brown;Aqua;Green;Orange;Yellow

Lines 1 and 2
Dog Size
XS; SM; MD; LG; XL; 2XL; 3XL

Line 1 Column AA
PicURL

Lines 3 through 13 - complete self-hosted image URLS followed by the pipe symbol with no spaces between jpg and the pipe. Like this: jpg|

From page 31 it says the following but there is no column that says "product identifier", so I did not add anything:

"Important: In addition to the other required fields, variations require a product identifier, such as a UPC, EAN, ISBN, and so on, at the item level for all manufactured products. If your variations do not have a product identifier, enter "Does not apply" for each item in the variation group."

Dolly, I can't put the below with images in the comment box for the other topic. Can you move it or should I start over with this question, please?

Question about variations. I included screenshots of page 31 and of my RelationShipDetails row.

For initial item listings, page 31 of the file exchange advanced instructions.

Am I supposed to manually list every possible variation for 7 sizes and up to 18 colors in the RelationShipDetails column?

@shipscript For the images in the PicURL field, on line 3, I entered them all in the one cell as described in the manual, as follows. There are no spaces, page breaks, etc. This is just a few of them:

https://www.mysite.com/images/dog_clothes/shirt.jpg|
https://www.mysite.com/images/dog_clothes/aqua.jpg|

Also, the original downloaded template has the first column, first row as below, but I deleted all that per instructions, and just kept *Action

*Action(SiteID=US|Country=US|Currency=USD|Version=745|CC=UTF-8)

I don't expect either of you to spend your whole lives helping me! 🙂 If there is any more info I should provide, please let me know.

Thank you!

Re: FileExchange PicURL field - What to enter for "hosted by eBay Picture Services (EPS)."

@huntfor

I recommend abandoning your other thread in the Answer Center and posting all concerns here, because this format is easier to use.

It sounds like you are starting off with a complex variation listing. I recommend that you create a simple single listing first to nail down the fundamental process.   You can always end it.

Are you creating just one listing with your File Exchange upload?

Can you share your upload file? Is it in a spreadsheet? If so, dummy-up the email address so it won't be shared. Then highlight and copy the cells off the spreadsheet and paste them into a code box on this forum. The code box will maintain the tabs between cells.  The code box opens from the </> symbol on the forum text editing toolbar.  (If smileys appear in your code, we should be able to figure them out).

On second thought, I think we could get more out of a CSV formatted file. Can you save the spreadsheet to CSV, change the suffix to TXT, open in a text editor, and then copy/paste the text into the </> code box here? Although harder to read, that will actually give a clearer indication of spaces and formatting.

@shipscript Do you want me to follow the instructions you just gave me? I uploaded my CSV at the below link.

I think I just did that! Dolly showed me how:

Re: FileExchange PicURL field - What to enter for "hosted by eBay Picture Services (EPS)."

I've found that if I create variation listings without inputting a primary image URL that this issue can happen. I think it's because eBay pulls one of the variation images as the primary and then when you go to update, you're not replacing the eBay hosted primary image with your own so it's a mix of EPS and 3rd party hosted. So with variation listings, you must always provide a main img URL even if on initial listing creation you do not necessarily have to.
