I heard that they will no longer be offering support for Windows 10 after October 14th. I run almost all my Ebay business on Windows 10 and don't want to change as I have a lot of my business programs on this laptop. I heard that you can pay for extended support for Windows 10 for another year. Does anyone know if this is correct? Has anyone tried to apply for this extension?

Most 32 bit programs will not run. Any program which relies on twain will not run..

I'm still on Win7 (they had to drag me off XP kicking and screaming but stuff stopped running) and the only issue I have (so far) is Chrome not updating anymore.

False. I have several customers running Windows 11 with older 32 bit apps, no issues at all. There might be some that might have a problem unless the DLL libraries are downloaded to support them. But this is a huge misunderstanding. Most apps are still 32 bit unless you specifically load a 64bit version. Even Office 365 is 32 or 64, depending on what version you want.
Now, 16 bit programs can be a lot trickier to get to work, but even those can be made to run in some cases. But most of the time they will fail to install or run properly or at all.

I will have to research that one. Twain is an issue in of itself, but I can't recall off the top of my head of its issues in 11. It might be more due to the fact that Windows 11 changed how printers and scanners are installed and configured as they slowly eat away at the older control panel settings, which I will admit annoys the hell out of me when dealing with printer setups sometimes.

I won't upgrade from my Apple II because I won't be able to play Oregon Trail.

I kept using my old XP box for exclusively eBay business until it died sometime around 2019. (The XP box, not the business.)
I then picked up a basic Windows 10 HP box at Best Buy, shortly before Windows 11 became widespread, and MS promptly informed that my new machine of one year did not qualify for Win 11. Gee, thanks a lot. I was also irritated that my workhorse Deskjet 5650 with duplex attachment (for 2-sided printing) was no longer supported on Win10 except by using a generic print driver that had no idea what a duplexer was, forcing me back to printing odd pages only, then flipping the stack and printing even ones in a second pass. Jeez.
So I'm in no hurry to advance to Windows 11 on yet another box when this HP machine is still working fine despite the shortcomings. I'm more inclined to get used to patches and workarounds (e.g. I started using Chrome on the XP box when Explorer became unmanageable, getting me several more years of service that way) than to go shopping for yet another computer until I absolutely need to.

This happened with Windows 7. It didn't blow up either. I have a Windows 7 machine on my other desk that I still use nearly every day, and yes its connected to the internet. I'm able to stream video, play games, (yes online ones) and use the browser and all that, just fine. Only a few websites might have issue and not work, and a few newer programs won't install.
Same here, my PC has windows 7 and I don't on upgrading as long as the PC is still working.
It might do things a little slower, but so do I.
Here too. Windows 7 on a $499 EMachine "Box Set" (Modem, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, Monitor) I bought back in 2009 when I opened up my Car Dealership. 1 Man operation. I ran my Car Dealership off this system for 3 years, and a Huge Used Furniture Dealership, along with an 8-10,000 listing Ebay store off this one Desktop Set for years also. Haven't had a 7 update in years, Chrome stopped updating a couple of years ago, but it's still going good here in Retirement. Just looked also, still have 324GB space left of the 447GB hard drive. Thousands and Thousands and Thousands and Thousands of Ebay, Etsy, Poshmark, Mercari, Marketplace, Craiglist, 3-4 Websites, of listings and photos have been run on this system over the years.

I ran XP until my PC died, I will run 10 until I replace my machines. If I could get to the web with it I have an 8088 running Win 2.0 that still works! Klunky thing but it was awesome in its day!

Many moons ago I got tired of paying for an operating system that is not only full of bugs but also abusive to me, in that they discontinue support for older versions that are working just fine and then basically forcing me to pay more to upgrade, which also means (most likely) a hardware upgrade and now some of my software doesn't work anymore either...
I made a life altering decision, I switched to Linux.
It took a few to several years for the transition but I've been pure Linux for a good decade now.
My last working version of Windows that I used was Windows XP.
That was the tipping point for me, was them doing away with XP.
Don't get me wrong, Linux also forces upgrades and basically stops support and it has bugs too...
But at least I don't have to pay for the privilege, Linux software is completely free to use (and if you absolutely feel the need to spend cash, they offer paid software as well).
If I may suggest, Ubuntu and Mint are good starting platforms, as is Debian.
Well, Ubuntu is Debian based (I think mint is too).

I had to laugh at this one. My mother was still playing Oregon trail on her previous Windows 10 PC a few years back.
Now all she plays is Stardew Valley. O_o
I had to upgrade her to 11 last month, when her SSD suddenly flatlined. Thankfully I run OneDrive on her system and everything is backed up.
Have to upgrade my father's HP Omen laptop next month. Yay. Not. He is getting a new 2TB SSD to give plenty of storage and better speed. He plays various games on his.
My current desktop I built with 11 on it, but still running on 23H2 oddly enough. My laptop is running 11 24H2 though and now version 25H2 is out. (as of August)
I run an un-activated copy of Windows 10 on my media server, no issues there. Don't care if it gets updated or not. That computer runs my Jellyfin video box for the property.
Then I have the Windows 7 box that I use primarily for video work, running specific apps that I don't want or can't get for 11, (mostly because of what kind of software it is, and not stuff commonly used), on top of having XP Mode setup for some XP only apps that I might occasionally need.
I also still have a Windows NT 4 box somewhere in a corner gathering dust but still works. Or it should.
Been running or working for a computer shop/business for 30+ years, you pick up a few things.

OP doesn't use the stamps.com website, they use the company's desktop app software. It can be buggy at times and I wouldn't be surprised if it stopped working with Win10 over time due to compatibility issues just like any other software. For the immediate future they should be fine.
We’re planning to switch away from Stamps.com soon precisely because of how buggy the desktop software is. And we’re running Win 11 on all our business computers I think.
Greetings, @jonathanbrightlight :
Because my Stamps.com software has always been so much more reliable than eBay's buggy and limited labeling/shipping software, I found it unusual that this past week it became clunky, forcing me to temporarily go back to eBay's program (yuck) for a couple shipments. My Stamps.com software then was version 20.4, and I'm running a Windows 11 laptop with no problems.
I got hold of real Stamps.com US-based Reps, who told me that it was a known issue and sent me a link to download version 20.7. I did, and my software is back to normal now.
You may want to go to the "Help" drop-down box in the upper left of your Stamps.com software, click on "About Stamps.com", and see what version you have. (Don't click on "Check for Updates"... It may tell you there aren't any).
Assuming your system is 64 bit, here's the link they sent to me to download Stamps.com version 20.7:
https://resources.stamps.com/site/resources/stamps64.exe
Hopefully this will get you back to normal. I've been a Stamps.com user for about 18 years now, and have been extremely happy with them and their occasional help at the end of an actual phone number to call. Back then I finally dumped eBay's shipping/labeling system because of unreliability, downtime, constant changes, and limited shipping options.
Cheers, Duffy

Thanks! I’m actually not the one in our company that handles the shipping labels but I’ll make sure they get that link! Hopefully it helps us too!

The big problem with running this old stuff is inability to update security and patches.

Forget it, many people still do business here even on XP, and half of the sellers definitely use Windows 7 and don't complain about it affecting sales.
