Adding Video code to listings

Anyone having any luck using https://www.isdntek.com/tagbot/YouTubeConverter.htm to convert youtube link or embed to then drop into HTML tab on Description for listings?

I thought I followed the instructions, and I get the youtube image of the video i've linked in the code, but it doesn't click through to actual video. It's just the image and some canned text about using the link.

I'm so close!!!!  I know there is something new coming from ebay regarding video and listings.  I just couldn't wait.

Best, Daniel

@levysmercantile

The video will not work in preview or listing-creation because links are blocked in preview.

Yes, eBay is bringing a new video uploader to the Mobile App. They already have it in the Motors Mobile App.

In the meantime, the inserted YouTube video may work only partially when viewed in the mobile app. eBay doesn't support the clickable link, and that is why there is text in the results to copy the link and paste it into the device's browser instead of trying to view in the App. If you have posted the listing, does your video work when viewing in a desktop browser?

Thanks. Glad to know it doesn't work while in preview, or listing mode.

It does not work when opening on my desktop. And I don't see a link that people could copy and paste in a new window.

Here is the listing - https://www.ebay.com/itm/334007006288?hash=item4dc45e7450:g:ssUAAOSwadJgpX5R

Much of the code is gone. What eBay listing tool did you use, and which browser?

Chrome and the new listing tool.  Should I return to Classic listing tool and try inputting the code there?

If your "Classic" tool is the Business lister, then yes, give that a try.  The new Unified lister has some inconsistencies, and the Quick Lister strips out stylesheets.

Video in Photo Gallery

eBay now allows uploading one video to the photo gallery at the top of the listing. Have you tried that? The video must be in MP4 or MOV format, and should be saved on your computer or device.  Instructions here:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/adding-video-listing?id=5272

Older devices record in MP4 (MPEG-4) format, but newer devices may record in HEVC format.

I don't have instructions for setting Android to capture MP4.

To switch the iPhone to capture in MP4 format, follow these instructions:

https://www.howtogeek.com/327689/how-to-make-your-iphone-use-jpg-and-mp4-files-instead-of-heif-and-h...

Video in Description

To put a video down in the description, it must first be uploaded to a video hosting site like YouTube (where you would need to create an account). YouTube accepts more file formats that eBay, so you should be able to upload straight from your device without worrying about converting. YouTube will handle the conversion.

After the video is uploaded to YouTube, collect the share link and paste it into the box at the top of this tool:

https://isdntek.com/tagbot/YouTubeConverter.htm

Click the button to make the code, and the code will appear in the lower box on that page. Copy the code and paste it into the HTML view of your listing tool. If you are using a third party listing service, make sure it has HTML editing ability.

If using eBay's newest desktop listing form (below), click the link at the top right of the description editor to "show all options".  On the popup, click "See more options". Then checkmark the box to  "Show HTML code".  Paste your video code in the HTML box, either above or below your description.
