returns

Is it me or is ebay totally lost their mind? They continue to want to extend the time period that a buyer can return an item. Years ago a buyer had up to 7 days tops and I thought that was ridiculous as you receive your item one day and just how long do you need to use or wear something to decide whether you like it or not? You saw it on ebay and liked it enough to buy it and received it and it evidently was to your liking as you chose not to return it right away so now what? We now give you weeks on end if ebay has their way to either break the item or have buyers remorse or any number of reasons to which ebay will gladly honor.

Now if I have it my way I choose to give you a few days at best and thats very fair to make your decision OR I say you don't get to return at all and everybody says your a bad guy and ebay says you don't get to wear the golden crown. SERIOUSLY!

Any real sellers out here will feel the same way because we are not here to sell and return, this isn't Walmart. We are trying to make a few dollars at best. What does ebay want next, six months to decide. I say screw that.  This is only one beef I have with them right now but I think it's a very legit one.

I am sympathetic....(meaning I agree with the logic of your post)

The caveat is that the credit providers allow the buyer up to 180 days to 'contest' a purchase....once it is elevated to that level, the seller (regardless of what platform they use) is going to get the short end of the stick.....

at least with a 30-day return window, we have a fighting chance of getting our item back from the buyer...regardless of the reasons for return...

@discountfloridajewelery @You loved yesteryear.  7 day returns are unheard of in this decade and probably the last one as well.

I also understand the absurdity of allowing so much time after delivery for significantly not as described returns.

As for the advice that buyers get to "just do a chargeback". That can and will backfire if it is used too often, and that depends on the card. A buyer can also lose return privileges here if it is abused. So can dimbulbs like my BIL that returned almost everything he ordered on another site. He can no longer return items and his credit card has blocked him from doing chargebacks.

There is a price to the abusers.  Doesn't help the seller that gets in the crosshairs before that happens, but it does happen if that is any consolation.
