No. You should never refund without requiring a Return request, as a general rule. Live and learn and good luck.

Depending on the type of return request the buyer filed, there's a difference in whether you or she pays for return shipping. 

With that said, when a return request is opened, you have 3 different options to choose from and it sounds like you picked the wrong one. It sounds like you issued the refund without requiring the return. You should have chosen the "return for refund," in which case, the buyer would have had a date by which to return it and if she didn't return it, the request would be closed and no refund would be required. 

As you did it, the buyer keeps the item and the money.

You refunded the Buyer. Buyer has no reason to reply. Buyer has money and merchandise
