I found a crazy cheap item on ebay at a discount that seemed pretty fishy - however I decided to risk it, since either I'd be very lucky or I'd have ebay buyers protection.
I have not yet received the item, and the seller created a shipping label two days ago.
Today I received an email from ebay that my return request had been received, and that I will hear from the seller on how to arrange it. I then closed the request in ebay and got a message from the seller that I should close the request so they can continue shipping.
What worries me is: I did not start the return. When I talked to ebay support, they confirmed that there was no transaction from a different IP address - that it'd have to be me.
Has anyone had this happen to them?

1. The seller @jrussek contacted eBay
-- posing as "you" to help start a return request.
2. Because "you" started a return request
-- you won't be getting the item.
3. Then because you closed the return request
-- you won't be getting a refund.

Argh, I figured something like that. I'm guessing the seller has sufficient personal information to pose as me, huh.
I did talk to ebay support and they said that I can still start another return?
Did they tell me bull**bleep**?
(Can I dispute through paypal?)

Yes, your eBay ID, name, zip code, phone if any, etc.

That's a lie to get you off of the phone, just like the lie about your IP address.
Yes, you have lost eBay coverage for the Money Back Guarantee with the closed return, but you can
-- file an Item Not Received dispute here
-- completely stop talking to the seller @jrussek
-- and just wait for your automatic refund in 10 days.

Is your seller in China? I bet that is a chinese piece of counterfeit junk. They will probably send you any item. Remember, if you have to return the item, it is a federal crime to mail counterfeit items through the mail. That was how I got my latest refund from a scammer on another site who was selling fake Clark shoes.

eBay customer support continues to play the fool, bamboozled by sellers pretending, impersonating, posing as buyers, to open eBay cases on the buyers' behalf effectively locking out those buyers for many years now.
