eBay cannot find my order# or item# - need eBay phn# for live REP

I bought a refurbished item from eBay with a money back guarantee and I'm trying to return it because it does not work. eBay cannot find my order number or item number and I have the receipt for both. Does anyone have an actual phone number for eBay customer assistance with a live representative?

There is a contradiction in your post, you say eBay can't find your order number, but you need to contact someone. How did you contact them?

There is no number to call, you need to use the Help/Contact window that is on every page. 

How long ago did you order?

Did you buy while logged in or as a guest?

The account you are posting with was just created today. So any eBay purchase made before today was made using a different eBay account, or else as a guest.

 

Sign out of this account and sign in to your other eBay account to check your purchase history and find the order.

 

If you purchased as a guest, sign out here and then use the order details link in the email that eBay sent regarding the guest order.

I tried doing exactly what you suggested. But I'm stuck in an eBay system loop because I can't remember my old password and it will not change the password on my old account because it doesn't recognize my account.

Ok, but how long ago did you buy? There are time limits and reading your post kinda sounds like you are well past any time limit that you could open a return. Money back only covers you for 30 days. 

Are you talking about an extended warranty?

To contact eBay, use the chat assistant that you reach from the Help & Contact page to request a chat with an agent or a call back.

 

What options you see may depend on your particular issue and how busy that department is at the moment.

 

Try entering "agent" into the chat window. You may have to provide some context to reach the correct department. If you see a "Still need help?" or "More options" choice, either of those should lead to a call back option.
