Wanted something else

A seller claimed he no longer had a product he listed for sale. He simply canceled the order and issued a refund. I did not want the refund, rather I wanted the product. Is there anything in ebay's policies requiring him to buy it elsewhere and provide it to me as ordered or at least ask me if the refund is what I want?

I was starting to respond the same way earlier, but I think maybe their intention was to explain why some sellers cancel, rather than what is actually allowable reasons to cancel? (And you're of course right to question that part, since we know that it's not really mostly new accounts that scam sellers, and neither is everything that is being called a scam actually a scam.)

Perhaps @uniwarehousewares would be able to clarify their intent.

seller can cancel order due to man reasons.

1 : out of stock

2 : if seller suspect buyer has brand new account , its possible seller can cancel bcz on ebay mostly brand new accounts do scamming.

3 : seller might selling same item on different platforms, so if he has low inventory and he get paid more on other platform better so he might cancel.

4 : if shipping address is wrong on order , seller can cancel.

5 : if buyer demand something other then what is on listing after placing order, so seller can cancel the order.

6 : if buyer ask to seller to ship to different address other then what is on order, so seller can cancel the order. bcz if seller change address other then what is on order and buyer open case later with paypal, seller will loose case, so sellers usually cancel order for these kind of buyers. there are good and bad sellers  and same way there are good and bad buyers and sellers have to protect themselves from being scamming and take preventive measure other then allowed valid reasons.

7 : if buyer demand discount, seller can cancel the order.

8 : if shipping cost is more then the product cost to ship in that area where buyer is located , so its possible seller can cancel the order.

and there are more reasons to cancel the order by the seller , it does not mean above all reasons are allowed by ebay but still seller can choose any reason to cancel the order. i am not sure what is  your particular case.

For most of those reasons, sellers would need to be honest in their choice of reasons for cancelling. And that honest reason would be OOS (out of stock) and sellers who cancel enough OOS sales will find themselves with restricted or suspended ebay accounts.

If that's the case,  instead of "seller can cancel," @uniwarehousewares should have said "seller might cancel" and should also have specified that if they cancel for many of those disallowed reasons, they put their account at risk.

Re: Wanted something else

mostly sellers are honest because they want keep their rating good and sell more to make profit, you are right, i should have used word "might" instead of "can", it was typo error, my bad. but as far as concern of new brand accounts, i have 35 cases in last few months where they scammed me and ebay closed case in my favor and they open cases with paypal and looses cases. so yes now adays scammers use mostly new account to scam because they know old acc can get ding. so they use new acccounts and the common thing among those scammers are, they use blur picture to send to seller of the item which is even not seller product but similar and open return and they send empty poly bag to sellers instead of product.

i am really tired from these kind of scammers. ebay should buckle up and do something to stop these scammers and all these kind of scammers using new accounts.i have proof of it and good news is, they all 35 scammer are looser they loose case on ebay and on paypal but i had to do alot of stuggle to prove it.

Re: Wanted something else

not all but many scammers use brand new accounts to do scamming, so if their account ban new one, it will  not hurt their old account. i have total 35 cases of scam and all of them had brand new accounts.
