Too early to start a return ticket

Dear All,

Has anyone encountered a “ It is too early to start a return ticket “ 

this has been a major problem with me trying to get the money back guarantee from eBay. 
seller sent me the wrong item and when I tried to return the item within the 30 days allowed by eBay they said it is too early to send the item back. Now I am out over 500 dollars. 

just curious if anyone in the community has come across this.

I received the same message today! I ordered a portable garden hose reel… but they delivered a wireless doorbell 🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean just the size difference alone would tell them it’s the wrong item. Anyway I tried to open a sent wrong item case, but said too early ( never experienced that before) got in touch with eBay , and they said it’s because I have to wait 24/48 hours to open case as eBay won’t recognise it’s been delivered already. I swear they make this naff up. Wasting time.

I realized this post is over a year old,  but I just had the same thing happen.  I ordered an item for use in my saltwater aquarium because the item title stated it was for marine/reef tanks (ie: saltwater) but the item sent is clearly for freshwater ponds.  When double checking my order to make sure the mistake wasn't mine I realized that the picture shown is for the freshwater ponds (which is what was sent) but the item description is for marine.  I ordered based on description not the stock photo.  They do not match and I can't use what was sent.  I tried to immediately submit a return but eBay says I have to wait till October 04 to request return (that is two weeks from now).  I sent seller a message but I should be able to start process immediately because I could tell as soon as package was opened that it didn't match the description.

Trying to solve problem through the eBay chat just keeps sending me to the return page which is where I keep getting told it is to early to request refund.  eBay is not helping at all.
